Lukaku probably won’t be playing for us next season

posted on 2/7/19

Did they last season.

No, so why would they this season.

posted on 2/7/19

I think they would personally if we had more creative players than just Paul Pogba.

To stop United you just have to double mark Pogba. None of our other midfielders (or fullbacks) will hurt you.
It's why teams let Ashley Young have acres of space. They don't fear him

Well, for the moment he will be. So, will they score enough?

Maybe
Maybe not
It’s not just about them scoring enough. Did you see how many we conceded last season.

The defence is another conversation.

Just looking at the forward options and if they are good enough.

I'm not sure how Lukaku scoring in Serie A will help us tbh.

Wont happen. Only 1 club in for him (as far as we know) and I cant see them being able to pay what we want for him.

Well that's ruined my morning.

I don't care if Inter don't pay upfront as long as we get the cash. Most deals are structured over a number of years anyway.

He will be leaving.

As if a team from Italy will be buying Lukaku. Have you not watched how they conduct their business over there. He'll go on loan, if he has done well enough to get a move to an English or Spanish club whilst on loan, which I believe he will in that league, he'll be sold to one of those. If not he'll go on loan to Italy again. Rinse and repeat until you have made most of what you've spent back and then he'll leave in a cut price deal in the final year of his contract.

No way are Inter putting a deal in place to buy him outright.

On the article there is absolutely no reason why those three couldn't hit 50 or 60 goals between them, if Lukaku stays and you go fresh into the new season with positivity. However will that be enough? Not for me as the defence and midfield cover is still poor.

I get that you hope he leaves. But um not sure if the sort of deal Inter proposed would allow us to spend what it would cost to replace Lukaku.

Central midfield is much more concerning, it's complete schite with a extremely talented and lazy showpony the best of a very bad bunch.

if it wasnt for De Gea's costly mistakes at a crucial time of the season we would have made top 4, so yes

14 goals

I personally dont think they will score enough between them to secure us a top 4.

I really don't see more than 40 league goals between them, so unless Pogba gets another load of pens, thatvisnt good enough.

That would depend on you getting in better defenders and midfielders. Liverpool's front three get about 60 goals in a league season. Midfielders don't get many. Whereas United could spread their goals out between four or five but then you would need to concede much less. You conceded more than double Liverpool and City last season.

A lot of that is to do with our midfield imo. Yes we need better defenders however they get absolutely no support from the midfield whatsoever. You had Pogba who doesn’t bother ever tracking his runners, Matic who makes my Grandma look like Usain Bolt. The only player we had who would support the defence and read the play defensively was Herrera and he was also slow and he is now gone. We desperately need legs in that midfield

Lukaku won't be here. Pretty sure we will do some kind of deal with Inter. Looking like Yedder might come in.

midfield is a massive issue has been for years, everyone knows its the key to not only how the attack performs but also the defence performs, we seem to get caught out defensively 3 on 3 or out manned so many times because the midfielders are not doing enough

We had that issue sorted when Jose played Herrera as DM. Then he bought Matic is we struggled again. We definitely need some more energy in there.

its not down to just 1 player though, I know its a different style of play but look at silva at city how he works for his defenders, if we play with a midfield 3 all 3 of them have to contribute defensively, and that's in all facets of play not just trotting back for corner and free kicks
