Don't you worry about that my friend. We have a wide range of ways to ruin strikers careers. We always find a way.

Shankland has shown a distinct lack of ambition.

His manager at Ayr Utd, Iain McCall, told the press the boy was destined for the national team, score all sorts of goals with either foot or head. Sky was the limit.

Where did it all go wrong??

Talk to me about Arbroath's pre-season form. Sensational.

As for Shankland, I forgot to mention it's a three year deal. Obviously the club has sold their vision to him which is great, because previously we didn't have a vision

Seems like a decent signing but his goals dried up last season towards the end and he was heavily reliant on Declan McDaid for assists (now Dundee player). Whoever is the striker with McDaid playing will get 30+ goals a season. So whoever had the brains to sign McDaid will get all of Shankland's goals from last season and whoever signed Shankland will get no benefit.

Lex - I'll go as far as to say I am very confident we will win the Championship next season.

Declan, if we look at the stats and figures, then McDaid only ever played well against United, so naturally he would only ever be signed by a player who measures all it's success by what it achieves against Dundee United. You could even say only a team obsessed with United would sign him. Probably driven by envy, but that's not for me to say. But it is.

McDaid was the stand out player in the Championship last season for me. Only someone extremely biased/bitter would disagree. I have never seen him play.

Arbroath have been impressive in pre-season. Not getting carried away. Yet.

Dundee Utd heavy favourites, which bring its own pressures.

Are you planning on going to a few of the Arbroath games this year? I expect them to start well and they definitely won't do a Brechin.

This is a boy who had a 3 year deal on the table from Swansea back in January.

There's something extremely fishy about this deal and i'm not sure on what side.

As my parents are in Arbroath, I try to plan my home visits around the games, so caught a few matches last season. I do fear a long hard campaign ahead, Arbroath might be the only part time team in the division? And, a few olders players in the squad, which is good for experience but it's a slog in winter. Work, train, play, repeat.

Alloa are also part-timers and have an astonishing knack of staying up whilst professional sides go down.
