The very same Gareth Barry the your club attempted to sign? Plus Barry was a very very good player. McCarthy has suffered from injuries and personally I wouldn't mind him being given further opportunities.
For the record Delph doesn't fill me with excitement, but if he helps improve the squad then that's a good thing.
One Rafa’s weird ones! Point still stands that he’s only been at City to make up the home grown quotas and whilst being decent, he’s a middle of the road premier league player.

While I would like to pretend differently, we are currently are a middle of the road premier league team. We are currently trying to build something and maybe Delph can help with this. I cant see him being a long term solution, especially if you take his age into account but he may offer more than we have at present. Phil Neville wasnt the greatest player he offered leadership.
Delph is a good player and would be a good signing, except for the fact that he constantly suffers recurring injuries. This means that he rarely gets the playing time he needs to reach his best.

Agreed and at £8m it’s fack all in this day and age when the likes of Tyrone Mings is going for £26.5m.

So he doesn't have the greatest injury record? That's not good, but maybe being a more important member of the squad and more potential playing time could have a positive effect on his fitness. (Obviously no science being that statement 😂)

I think he's a good signing for you, but there is an element of risk. He did well at LB for us, but never got a run in his true centre mid position.

Highly unlikely he will ever play LB for us and it will be in CM that he played. From what I can remember he is more of a busy, destructive, combative midfielder (is that right). Does he have any creativity about him?

The article was a question to city fans and from what I can make out from your bio, you are an Arsenal fan. 👍🏼
With Garbutt gone, McCarthy and Besic looking on there way out it’s a good buy.
One top season at LB two years ago. Stuttering form either side due to injury and prone to the odd brain fart.
Imagine you will get at a decent price so relatively risk free.
Good pro, will be good for the dressing room now he’s won a few medals.
Good professional but prone to injury but in midfield he is competing with KDB, Silva x 2, Gundogan and Foden any 2 of which would be nailed on starters for any PL team so he is simply outgunned. Covers LB but not great there in the last 18 months.
Personally speaking I think he'd make a great DM.
His chances became limited at City due to the form of Fernandinho, his injuries didn't help either.
He's in the England squad that should tell you something. Should get a good 3 seasons out of him. Wish him well tbh he never his on the pitch.

Plays any position and the fittest man in the squad.
