I rate only Hazlewood and Lyon as good bowlers from the Aussie side.

Ably helped by some of our lads getting themselves out

Also just to note, it's Joe root's first ashes test match win as captain.

Test cricket is the best format for me.

T20 or 50 over cricket is boring.

Which is a travesty (and is probably true). Our openers got less runs than Jofra Archer in the second innings.

what I find so annoying. is we don't have to score masses of runs to win,If we get 300 or so batting first. You can beat this aussie team.

I did initially have plans of playing snooker against my cousin today but told him yesterday will leave it as this test match is looking very interesting. Good decision I made in the end

For Old Trafford is there is weather around. I would drop Leach and play Curran. He offers a bit more with the bat and hes a decent left armer
I would be ok with playing Anderson for Woakes. But it would be a gamble. you have to make sure Anderson is able to bowl his fully quota.

We shouldn't need to rush him back. Bowling is not the issue.

Batting isn't an issue if they apply themselves.

Roy obviously isn't cut out as an opener so just take him out

Absolutely incredible. LWE will be fuming that his man Stokes did that today. Not a test cricketer.

Don't burden him with the captaincy though.

And you'll still hear people complaining about Stokes' averages.

Couldnt be happier for the guy. I've been a huge fan since he first debuted. You could see his talent then. The guy is an animal, a true match-winner. Just amazing.

And still, here's hoping for 4 changes for the next test

I was on the verge of posting before start of play today that England will win this but was out of home for considerable period and kids taking control of PC. I believe England should win next 2 tests, provided they replace Roy

Momentum is massively with England now. Huge result.

And whoda thunk it, they won primarily because they built an innings based on solid defence.

Stokes has played one of the best test innings ever to take England to victory. 286/9 would have been game over in 1 out of 500 matches
