Cook, KP, Bell...even Trott.. i miss those guys

Trott was phenomenal before his mental health dipped
Back when everyone in the top 7 averaged 40+, now only 1 of them do.

The days of Strauss, Cook, Trott, KP, Bell, Colly, the pinnacle. Batsman that could actually apply themselves.

have we made it to tea in tact yet?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe tea is at 4:10 with the final session lasting 4:30 to 7pm to catch up some overs.

yep KP and Trott did for a while before each had their own individual issues.
52 Partnership now. Taking valuable time out of the game.

I'm sure Cook as as well, immense for an opener who plays half his games in England against the moving ball.
C'mon Jonny lad, prove me wrong (like I say every facking time you bat you useless ginger prat)
nope Cook was always in the mid-late 40s, when he was insane in Aus and India those 2 away series im sure he got close.

this would be his greatest knock if he goes on to 3 figure, would potentially save englands ashes

Valuable runs, these. Over 200 and the draw is very much still on. If we can bat out the day... well, fingers crossed.

Yeah it's unrealistic to expect the top 7 to do that as that was a phenomenal side, but we really should have at least 3 averaging over 40.
It's no wonder Root is struggling, he'd probably be averaging 55 in that 2010 side.

I know he was for the majority of his career but I was sure he got into the 50s around the Ashes 10-11 series which was when Pietersen was lauding him with all sorts of praise. Then he got made captain and he hovered around 50 after the 2012 India series when he was superb before the steady decline.
