need wickets. 41-2 looking a good score
When you see Root's face in close up he shows the pressure he's under, that youthful grin is a rare sight these days. I think losing the captaincy is exactly what he needs.
when they lose the series he has to go as captain thats for sure
Just the two bowlers for England?
Woakes into the attack as soon as I said that
as soon as woakes comes on he'll get a wicket
All the Aussie batsmen seem to have adopted the Smith plan of moving their stance over to off.
Warner finding his feet, not good news for England.
Urgh this is frustrating, we need wickets ffs
There wont be much shine on this ball for Woakes after it's rolled over the wet turf so many times.
Warner filling the shoes of Smith by the looks of it.
Aussies will be delighted at 50/2 and Warner in good nick. We are in trouble if we don't get some wickets soon...

Australia well on top now 54/2, crap from us.
both these playing very streaky smith like innings
the runs will start to come for them later on
And off they go again, crap mini session from us.
What is the real reason Archer's speed has dropped, not having this conditions buisness
its all the stop and starting doesnt help the bowling rhythm. Aussies have been extremely fortunate this test so far.
Decision to bowl first looks shocking now, but not going to pin it on Root as I doubt he knew we'd be stopping so much.
Perfect bowling conditions, we simply can't stay on for more than 10 overs.
What a rotten day for cricket, winning the toss may well turn out to be a big disadvantage.

From the sounds of things he's bowling slower to get some movement out of the new ball. Makes you wonder why Woakes wasn't used instead so Jofra could be used properly, i.e. bowling fast and aggressive.
I get the idea behind making the most of his fear factor while it lasts, but if they misuse him then the fear factor will vanish in no time flat.

its how it should be. England doing simple things wrong
In 2009 on this ground in similar conditions Strauss won the toss and chose to bat (idiotic choice) and England were dismantled. I had hoped to see the same happening today for the Aussies.
Root is aiming to bowl Archer for half the overs he is clueless as a captain but probably the only batsman who is guaranteed a place so not sure who can take over.
