From what Lampard's said, I don't think we will stick to one formation. So we will chop and change from a 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or other alternatives depending on form/opposition/injuries.
Bakayoko's most likely to leave, as Lampard doesn't seem to be a fan. I reckon Drinkwater will stick around again regardless of game time. I think the six of Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, RLC, Mount & Barkley is a good number to have in midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with you - I guess I would just be a bit surprised if Drinkwater stayed to make that number 7 if he's unlikely to get any game time.

You should have played 4-2-3-1 last season. Your squad was made for it. Kante and Jorghino holding would have given you a great platform to go and allow Hazard, RLC, Pedro, Willian and co to support a lone striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for that. I'll be sure to let Sarri know.

Aslong as bakayoko never plays a pl game i'll give frank all the time in the world
One of the most intriguing yet terrifying aspects of this appointment is we have no idea how Lampard will setup. He has no philosophy, one year at a Championship club prior to managing us means nothing in that regard. In fact worst thing he could do is come in with set philosophies thinking he knows more than he does.... AVB did that.
This is absolute pie in the sky thinking, but I imagine being a Chelsea guy, learning from the managers he did as a player and knowing what brand of football we like, he'll try to incorporate a transition oriented style based on pace, power and energy. Basically a modernized twist on our mid to late noughties team's football, in essence what Solskjaer's doing trying to recapture the 'give no f*cks' attacking style of Ferguson.
Frank played a variety of formations at Derby (from 4231/433 to 442 diamond to 343) but the aim remained the same...implementing high-octane pressing and quick possession-based attacking football (Jody Morris' blueprint allover the ideology, hallmarks of his very successful flexible academy sides).
Possession wont be as extreme as Sarri' rigid restrictive patterns and automatisms.
Should be able to extract the best/most out of the quality players that Jody coached for starters.
Derby's dominant performance (in all aspects) at Old Trafford in Carabao Cup is a glimpse of what's to come.
Implementation at Chelsea should be vastly better, given the high-quality of players at disposal.

I'm hoping we see the below pretty regularly next season,
CHO------------RLC/Mount--------------pulisic
------Jorginho/Kova--------Kante
Hudson-Odoi wants out, seems pointless to let him make mistakes and grow if it's Chelsea who will feel the pain and Munich the benefit.

All the recent reports suggest a 5 year 100k a week deal is close to being signed

On the Sky transfer podcast yesterday it said those were rubbish and that there remained considerable distance between Chelsea's offer and one he would be willing to accept...
His head has been turned.

That's one aspect from his Derby team I think he will try to replicate, the mini-gegenpress against teams he deems better than us. Our games against City & Pool this season should be very entertaining
But against the rest of the league I wouldn't put too much stock into how Derby played in general when determining how we'll set up. This'll be a learning curve, whether this goes well or terribly I guarantee his ideology will have changed by the time we part company.

I notice your team doesn't have a striker......which is fairly accurate.
But yes, I agree with you. I think that will be our best team.
