Rangers will take care of this lot no problem

Interesting to see the Kamata bubble bursting alteady.

He's a slightly above average spfl midfielder whose ibrox career is now following the same trajectory as a host of others...Cool Billy, myles Beerman, the boy mccrorie, david bates, the boy from arsenal, barasic, the boy from spurs, etc, etc

The reaction cycle seems to follow a similar pattern-

We've got a player here

He's better than...(name a Celtic player in a similar position eg Tierney)

We should get at least 10/15/20m fur him

Compare him to a world class player in a similar position (eg..he's like ngolo kante)

He's been carrying an injury!

Aw ffs. No again !

For what its worth I still like Kamara. He's good enough on the ball but wont make things happen very much. He'll do ok this season

I would pick probably the same team as the OP.

Arfield can come on for the last half hour and raise the tempo and provide a real bit of drive like he did against that Gibraltan pash.

Kamara is a good player with a bit of class about him who has been a great buy. The finish press were creaming themselves over him after the last international games - but maybe they are all Rangers fans too?

He has been in and out like all of the midfielders have in the preseason games simply because we have more players available to us that need to get up to speed - primarily Docherty and Aribo. Some players take to that better than others.

I would agree that the matches he has come off the bench he has toiled a bit to get up to speed with the game.

And conversely Ryan Jack - who I am not a big fan of - seems to have upped his game a bit. Although he is still a nose bleed in the final third.

First choice two out of three in there for me will be Davis (although I expect him to be rested at times) and Aribo so its up to Kamara and Jack to battle it out.

I’ve certainly not turned against kamara and anyone who does is just clearly a racist 😡

Kamara is a good player, just on the form so far over pre-season he drops out.

Juarez
Kayal
Izaguirre

to name but three celtic players large swathes of the celtic fans blew their wad over and there was chat of getting £10m+ for.

Not sure what the exact figure was that you brought in for those three in the end.....

But aye its just Rangers fans that get optimistic about players sometimes.

funny how if we say a player is $hit hot during pre-season that we are a laughing stock bigging up players in meaningless friendlies, but if another player isnt quite up to sharpness yet then he is a overachiever 6 month flash in the pan, and that we have all turned against him.

He was given extended leave due to his international commitments.

The Guardian linked Kayal with both Liverpool and Man Utd as well after he strung together a few good games in a row.

And if my memory serves me correctly celtic fans were lapping it up and talking him up big time.

But yes - this is a purely Rangersy phenomenon

My neggy spidey sense (my Hamish tingle) says 2-0 Rangers.

By rights it should be 3-0 min and my head says 4-0.

We need to just relentlessly go at them. They conceded twice in single matches against Cardiff uni and Cork ffs.....

Easy win by 4 at least for rangers.

I don’t think anyone is saying you can’t be optimistic.
Just that you’re quiet about it.
Rangers fans should be like German tourists abroad: sheepish and vaguely apologetic
We’ll tolerate you but, like Fritz, it’ll be a while before all is forgiven and forgotten.

Some very sensitive bears on here.

I made a comment about how Rangers fans react tp new players.

Most of the replies have been about how the press have talked up certain Celtic players.

In any case Kayal and Izzy went on to have pretty decent careers.

David Bates got paid to leave Hamburg reserves.

The point is Kayal and Izzy didn't go for £10m+ and have pretty decent careers at Man Utd or Liverpool.

Kamara is having a pretty decent career. Regular in the Rangers team and a stand out for his national team.

He had English premiership teams sniffing around him last season before we nipped in for him.

But that makes him a just above average Scottish premier league player? Or your average £50k player as someone described him last week.

Sorry but what a load of utter dross.

And I don't know any Rangers fans who talked up Bates.

Bates was talked up by the media after he left here.

And he left here because he knew he was going to be about fourth choice CB.

Kayal and Izaguirre had good careers at Celtic

Kamara has only played a few games for Rangers

I wouldn't compare them

The difference is, with Kayal and Izzy in particular, they were excellent in their first season and we were eventually ruing why we hadn't sold them after a year. £9M was talked about for both. And to be fair to Izzy he setlled into a very decent LB until the sublime KT came along. We eventually got about £3M for Kayal so it wasn't all bad.

Juarez was OK to start with but his head got fried when he got horsed out the Mexico squad for being a daftie.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

But the long and the short of it is none of these three players got the big money moves to big clubs that the media and fans had been bigging them up for.

There is always a story behind why it doesn't work out for players the way you might think at first.

Coulibally looked terrific for us at the start of last season then he got injured and was never the same player.

Barisic was the same. Good against us, started well then had two or three niggling injuries and never got his place back because Flannigan was playing well.

But he is fit and looking decent in poreseason. SG doesn't seem to be on the hunt for a LB so he has convinced the manager he is up for it.

Point is players form can go up and down and their fortunes can change for pretty much every team.

It can happen even after they get their big moves.

Look at Fraser Forster. Only just turned 31 and should be at the peak of his powers. Yet he is about third choice at Southampton if he is even still there.

Bates is still at Hamburg, made 28 appearances last season.

I don't think he's anything special but that's not too shabby.
