Thank god for that.

Im just glad he’s going outside of England. Would have hated to have seen him line up domestically against Spurs.

I’m still a fan - he did a lot for Spurs (as we did a lot for him), and while a tend to draw a line once a player leaves, occasionally one or two retain a soft spot (always held Sherringham in high regard when he left to United, for example).

Personally think he’s just lost the love for the game. I don’t know him, never met him, but just looks like he has the Aurora of someone going through the motions - probably why he’s taken then money in China then prefer to try his luck in Italy, Germany etc.... can only imagine it’ll be easier on him physically.

Hard to knock him for taking that amount of $$$$$.

He’s not just set for life, but all of his family for generations to come will never have to worry.

If I could provide that for my kid and his kids and their kids, I’d be all over it, especially if I’d already achieved everything I could have imagined in football.

Very disappointed in him. He could have either stayed at Madrid and fought to get his place back or taken a bit of a pay cut and played for a top English team.

Obviously he has the medals at Madrid, but the way he didn't even atempt to understand the culture of even learn the language was pretty disgraceful. He also seemed to develop a massive ego over there. I do think with his talent he should have made more of his career, which he has ended if he is off to China

It’s something I’ll never understand. He has a chance to play the game I assume he loves at the top level and you forsake that for money.

Fair enough if you need the money but he’s been on insane wages at RM for years - he’s rich beyond most people’s wildest dreams. Yet still he’s chasing more money.

His choice but seems like a crazy waste of his talents to me.

Disappointing move. If he is moving for money then he is a total Bell and I don't see any other reason to go play footy in China at his age.

Becoming disillusioned with footy now, the money being thrown about is farcical.

He earns 600k a week at Madrid

Firstly, I'm not sure I believe anyone here who says they would turn down £1 million PER WEEK for the next 3 years of their life.

Secondly, and more importantly, how does a club I've never heard of have the money to pay that kind of wages?

posted on 27/7/19

Makes me think that he knows that he'll never be the player he was again so he's gone for silly money to a low standard league.

Very glad he didn't come back. It would have blown our wage structure out of the water and he would probably of spent more time out injured than playing.

Why can't they take Ozil (and Mhiki, Xhaka and Mustafi)... why

Context. The average person would never turn down £1m per week but when you’ve been earning £600k per week, what does that extra money actually buy you. What can he do on that money that he can’t do now?

So yeah, in that scenario I believe many people would turn down the manège for merely ludicrous money elsewhere.

I absolutely guarantee i wouldn't move for the money, i am not even mid forties yet and barely work any more when i could earn plenty if i chose to. Anyone focusing their life on money has already lost.

If he moved club to anywhere else he would need to take a massive pay cut and earn probably 25-33% of what he currently earns. Why would anyone do that. Human nature, no matter what you’re earning.

Also, Bale has won near everything he can win. He has created a legacy for himself at both club and national level. I never begrudge any player who chases money but especially when they’ve already achieved great things in their career.
