It sounds like the full back situation is all down to Poch. Trippier was beyond hopeless last season so whoever plays there next year will be an improvement. Poch clearly sees something in Foyth. I would say when Poch joined Rose looked awful with no sign of progressing and we all wanted him out. So I am going to have some faith in Poch and see how this plays out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf Rose was far more athletic to what foyth is.

I’m thinking both didn’t like how open we was last season and is thinking our back for will be a more defensive unit and won’t have Fbs bombing on

posted on 28/7/19

Yeah foyth is definitely a centre back

I dont think this experiment will go well at all

don't think aurier will be first choice, everything that's been reported suggests Foyth and KWP will battle for it

Could happen though I guess

----------------------------------------------------------------------

What sources though? All i've heard is KWP saying he needs to step up and not be the "youth potential" and Foyth about competing for two positions at CB and RB which also gives him more game time.

Nothing else is concrete and Aurier will IMO be first choice RB as long as he is fit. I expect he starts most games if we don't bring someone else in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sky Sports report that poch wants KWP and Foyth to battle for the spot - no mention of aurier

Duncan Castles reporting that we're prepared to sell aurier

Alasdair gold report that its essentially foyth's position to lose - only mention of aurier is that hes failed to convince poch that hes good enough

Literally all the noise points towards Foyth

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem is Foyth is missing first game of the season through suspension.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes but that doesnt mean he wont end up being the number one option this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think you are right Foyth will be first choice, but Aurier has more experience, and may be used in the European games. Whatever happens though it is essential Poch sticks with one right back, and does not keep rotating to keep players happy.

posted on 28/7/19

I think KWP is the best option tbh

Think people are really low on him because they just assume he must be bad if hes never been given much of a chance

posted on 28/7/19

We need a dynamic RB - Walker, TAA, Dani Alves, Semedo, AWB types. It's been crucial to our game. Unless we are going to sign individually brilliant attacking players (to add/ not replace) our front line then having players like Foyth and Davies on each side will hinder us.

posted on 28/7/19

I have faith in Aurier. On paper he is what we need but has to stay fit and like Sandy mentioned, needs to have a proper run of games. Our best defensive season was when Davies and Trippier knew they were back up and we played with a constant back four most matches. If just brings a better understanding of styles and habits.

Hang on a minute Sandy is right, we should go and spend £25m on a right back to cover Foyth for the 1 game he is suspended.

Liverpool have no new signings for their starting 11, United have 2, Arsenal have 1, Chelsea have 1, City have 1 and Spurs have 1.

Only 1 board is tuuurding everywhere though
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Really mate ? Are you really trying to compare City and Liverpool here ? They are miles ahead of the rest. They don’t actually need to sign anyone and probably still will finish far ahead of the rest. Liverpool are European champions, City are league champions. Our situation is completely different, we don’t win anything. Liverpool’s listened to Klopp last season and got him the appropriate players to compete, low and behold they are now European champions. Our chairman doesn’t do that and doesn’t prepare the manager enough for the new season. Happens every single summer, yet we are bed wetters for expressing our frustration. Nope, sorry I couldn’t give a flying f** if we were in the CL final. We lost in, so it means absolutely f** all to us or anyone anymore. More should be done this summer to rectify clear weaknesses in the squad, it’s as simple as that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If Sessegnon comes in and Foyth is converted to RB then surely Poch has addressed the weakness at full back with what he thinks will work. Whether you agree with that or not isn’t important as Poch knows best.

He has got Ndombele and GLC will be with us by the end of the window. I f Eriksen stays and Toby also then what other strengthening are you hoping for?

Shiiiit, blooooody Levy get your cheque book out and buy Neymar to cover for sonny for a couple of matches

posted on 28/7/19

Our FBs are a massive issue. So much so that it's critical IMO. That said, I wouldn't be disheartened if Foyth was given a go there. It's definitely a position he can cover as he does it for Argentina but its an unknown for Spurs. We cannot keep staying still with our quality of players and expect more from the squad. We will never will anyhting all the time we are happy with CL football. Have to win something and to do that we need to seriously improve the squad. Levy should be getting far more stick from the fans. It is unnacceptable to go as long as we have without winning anyhting. CL football alone is good, but not enough. Trophies are what seperate the good from the very good.

The most essential thing, whoever Poch picks is to keep the back four consistent. No more nonsensical rotation.

Mate you keep saying “if”. Would you be surprised if Spurs didn’t sign GLC and Sessegnon ? It wouldn’t bd the first time Levy has left us short. I want our players in early mate so we are prepared for the season. We haven’t rectified our weaknesses and once again like I always predict, we are playing dice with our season just because Levy has some weird Fetish trying to get late deals on the last day.

If Sessegnon and Lo celso are genuine targets and I believe they are then it is clear why they were not signed sooner. Ryan Sessegnon has been injured all summer, he has not taken part in any of Fulham’s pre season - why would we buy him early in the window, pay his wages and medical bills when we could wait til the end of the window and save ourselves the cash.

GLC is supposed to report back to Real Betis on Tuesday, he has played zero part in their pre season. This is due to him needing to rest after the Copa America, Spurs of all teams know that players need a proper rest after major international tournaments - the World Cup last year. Why would spurs want to pay a guy £150k a week for the 3 weeks he is on holiday when we could wait until he is back and get value for our money.

There was a post on spurs community today that showed the transfers Spurs have made over the past 5/6 years - over 80% occurred in the final week of the transfer window.

Poch likes versatility, Davies, Foyth and Dier can all cover CB. We’re not buying a CB when we have 3 guys battling for 2 positions and a further 3 players who can cover.

We won’t buy another striker either as Son/Alli/Lucas can all cover.

Agree about the CBs unless we were selling Dier I see him playing there long term. Foyth the cover at CB and can play RB. We also still have Aurier and KWP.

CB is a massive worry say somehow we let verts and toby go next summer, will be a disaster.

Regarding your comment on forwards though I do not agree, we need another option there. Son, lucas and Dele as forwards at the end of last season in the league especially, hopefully just down to fatigue, were very wasteful and toothless.

Foyth at RB for a season is a cop-out.
Happy to be proved wrong.

But Poch thought playing Son at LB in a semi was a good idea.

Remember we didnt sign a DM when we needed one and Poch put Dier there, then we had a great season.

Yeah, but unless foyth is going to be a revelation, then We are in trouble. We know kwp and Aurier are not the answer. We are trying to win the league ffs. We should have put down serious money for whoever are the top right backs on the continent outside of rival clubs or the European giants.
