Best of luck for the season Ivan, but losing to Shrewsbury is ominous.

We all need you Arabs back in the top division, so get it right this time, eh.

I don't know why but I fancy Dunfermline to win the league this season

Grouchos has been a huge part of many people's lives for Dundee & the surrounding areas. Early train on a Saturday morning to rummage in the crates/shelves was a routine for me & my mates.

RIP Breeks.

Was talking to the only DU fan I know last night.

Reckons you need a CM big time.

You got one lined up?

I want to put my league winners acca on this weekend....had quite fancied United for the Championship but I'm not completely convinced tbh.

Pars should have a good season. Inverness will fancy their chances of coming up too.

No idea how Dundee will fare after a huge turnaround of playing staff.

Should be an interesting season ahead and tight once again. A good start is important.

We've signed Adam King who hasn't been near fitness and hopefully he'll step up and help things out in there.

Butcher seems to be a guaranteed starter as the holding midfielder but he's a man down when we have the ball. Hopeless in a 442. It concerns me massively. It's the main reason I was sad to see Bouhenna leave the club as he would be a better option, particularly in games where we would expect to have most of the ball.

Tomorrow night is the title decider for me. Similar to our opening game last season away at St Mirren. We were the better team and should have won that game, which would have given us confidence for the season. If we had won then St Mirren would have been cut adrift at the bottom very quickly.

Similarly, tomorrow is about putting a marker down to set the tone for the season. It will show us whether we are a title winning side or a play off contender.

I can also see United dropping points against Inverness so it would be good to build a healthy lead in the title race going into the first derby.

I've predicted a draw for United on Saturday. Neilson will be too cautious. I'll try and watch the Dundee game tomorrow night. Should be a decent match. I assume you're going, purely to have one of Dunfermline's fantastic bridies?

I shall be going as it is conveniently the easiest place to get to for a 19:05 kick off on a Friday night, out of any team in the league. I don't even have to leave work early. I am predicting that it will be a healthy crowd and hopefully some positivity for the first time in years.

Dunfermline are 10/1 to win which is decent. United favourites at 9/4.

Interstingly Oddschecker has United as the punters favourite and Ayr United as the second most backed team.

Ayr have obviously lost Shankland who they were heavily reliant on last season so that one is a bit hard to fathom.

Have to fancy Falkirk for Div 1. Conor Sammon is gash but he should score a fair chunk of goals at that level. They are as short as 3/5 to win though so not much value in them.

No idea about Div 2.

We stole McDaid from Ayr as well who was key for them as well.

I'd definitely expect a good crowd at the game and hopefully a decent game of football. I'm looking forward to seeing how your namesake Johnson gets on. Could be a very important signing for you because I don't see who else will score the goals.

I think that's what could hurt Dundee this season. You need three or four good strikers in your squad if you're going to win the league. Although I'm not entirely convinced we have that either.

We also took Smith from Ayr, who was an impressive right back for them.

League 2 should be a battle between Cove and Edinburgh I think. If I was a betting man I'd go for Cove.

I have heard Cove been tipped by someone else. Plus they did pretty well in the cup last year did they not?

They sound as good as anyone for me.

My knowledge is pretty much zip at that level.

I think time is on our side as well, as the team have only played a few games together, but already look like a good unit. That may just be relative compared to the shambles of previous teams. It should keep improving though. I actually rate Andrew Nelson and reckon he will get quite a few goals in The Championship.

Cove to win League 2 by a record margin. That league looks pretty weak this year. Peterhead and Clyde were decent sides and no one decent has come down. Possibly Stenhousemuir but that's it. No Rory McCallister, no Kenny Deuchar, no Lee McCulloch or any of the other famous League 2 strikers who you see pop up on Soccer Saturday every week.

In signing news, we have Elliott Frear on trial, the winger having previously featured for Motherwell in the top flight last season. His xA stats were pretty good apparently so he could well be a good signing, but we'll wait and see. I can't say I know a huge amount about him.

Should watch him against Jimmy Bullard in the know the drill challenge mate. Forrest Green Rovers i think it was.

He looks like Messi in it.

Best of luck all

Thanks. I am now allowed to want the likes of Hamilton, St Mirren, Ross County etc to beat the old firm. It wasn't so pleasant having to support Rangers against them. Although no one likes Hamilton anyway.

You can want all you like this year mate - as long as you shed that uncomfortableness from last season we'll all get along fine.

Because I usually want Aberdeen or whoever to finish above Rangers to make it more interesting. Celtic are irrelevant as they just win the league anyway.
