Yup, no excuses from Poch now. These are the players he wanted and he is the one happy to go without a right back.
Although realistically, the target is the same, top 4. Liverpool and City are still significantly better than us, but hopefully we close the gap.
Yeah no fecking excuses poch, anyone think Liverpool had a freak season last year ?

They can't do any better. Did well to avoid major injuries. However, their first X1 is top class. Best CB in the world, superb keeper and full backs and a top class front 3. Guaranteed top 2 imo.

How do we know that?
I think Spurs had a decent summer but if i'm honest i don't expect them to kick on.
Ndombele replaces Dembele
Lo Celso replaces Eriksen (Will be sold to Europe imo)
Nobody replaces Trippier.
Nobody replaces Llorente.
Clark is added as potential as is Sessegnon.
Replacing the CB's will be the job next summer.
I suspect Levy would be happy for a couple of seasons at least to stay in the CL and like for like replace with younger players.
Hmmm I don't think it's fair to say Poch got everything he wanted. We obviously wanted another midfielder as we went for Dybala. Is that because we expect to be selling Eriksen? Well if we still do then we haven't really strengthened enough on paper.
Whether you can't blame Levy for missing out on Dybala is one thing but we left things late and gave ourselves little chance of making sure we had that added strength in the end.
We still have uncertainty at RB and no plan B striker. We won't overhaul City but should be in a top 4 battle with the rest.
Agree with this Chronic. Poch must deliver this season or questions should be asked.
I think it's a bit early to suddenly expect trophies from Poch but you'd certainly expect to see development on the league front and probably a better domestic cup run.
In an ideal world (for Poch and Levy) i’d imagine he wanted Eriksen out and Dybala in.
But both were complicated in that Eriksen wanted Spain and Spain (so far) didn’t want him; and Dybala’s image rights contradict the PL third party ownership rules. There wasn’t a way around it that the league would have accepted.
So you can’t blame the club. The massive question now is all on eriksen - does he stay, and if he does, does he apply himself? If so then we have a hell of a team. If he doesn’t then we are weaker in that area.
I can see him leaving in Jan and being replaced then too.
RB is weird but it signals that Poch does fancy Foyth as a RB so let's trust his judgement.
Got to say I’m excited for the season. Our midfield has been revamped - the area we were struggling in - and we’ve kept all of our best players.
As chronic says, over to you now Poch
Poch isn’t happy. He’s been saying odd things in the media for 2-3 years. It’s not the signings, it’s the fact he is essentially a coach these days and doesn’t have the control over incomings and outgoings that he would like
I’m sure he’s pleased with the clubs business, but he doesn’t hand a bit of paper to levy and get him to ring a few agents. His recent interview made it clear that he’s removed from the process - Spurs have an extensive recruiting team who works with Levy
Not to say Poch isn’t consulted, but the idea that he’s suddenly going to be really happy is just naive. I think it’s his last season. The guy has done wonders for you

Didn't say it wasn't possible, just that you shouldn't necessarily expect it.
Reality is the league looks beyond you, CL should also be beyond you and that leaves two cup competitions.
Title challenge will be a step too far this season. 3rd should be the realistic aim with a title push being the hope rather than the expectation. Missing out on Champions League would be disastrous but fortunately the team is good enough that that shouldn't even be an option.
A good cup run (or two) is pretty much a requirement this year though, and really Spurs should be looking to win one or the other. More quality depth in the squad this year and much more rested after the summer, so no excuses.
I'm hoping Spurs look at another #10 (Dybala again if he's not gone to PSG in the meantime) and a right back during the January window, but that's probably a pipe dream.
Big season ahead, with Eriksen, Alderweireld and (potentially) Vertonghen all on the way towards the ends of their contracts, and the backups to the latter two nowhere near as good. I suspect that if the season doesn't go to plan, Pochettino might be off along with those 2/3 key players.
No pressure
Forgot about the Champions League
Obviously "expecting" to win it would be ridiculous for Spurs, and it seems unlikely that last season's run will be repeated. Getting out of the groups is the minimum requirement, quarters would be a good run, semis or final would be way beyond expectations.
Dont think we went far enough to say we can challange the top 2, getting a RB and Dybala would have helped, but still have the Eriksen situation and contracts for Toby and Verts, so could all go pear shaped yet, expecting a battle for 4th again, have to realise that even though on paper we have improved but so have teams around been spending money
Overall improvement in play. Good cup runs.
If we lose Eriksen and Toby we going to struggle especially if we lose Toby.

We operate a 4 person selection group for transfers, none of which is Levy. Poch sits on it and ultimately has the final say.
However I do believe the club will have some sort of template that has qualifying criteria for individual players. If they don’t ✔️ most of the boxes then we don’t buy them

Huge season for Dele. He either steps and and proves he is actually a quality player or meanders through the season and the talent he had starts to be talked about as a flop. I also think Poch needs to up his game with Dele.
Poch has to deliver a trophy this season. No excuses. He can't keep falling short every season. This is as strong a side as we have had so time to deliver.
