How so? It would be on the front foot for most of the game, so much creaitivity in their. Ndombele would hardly be getting bullied off the ball too much.

For the same reason that fernandinho has been city's most important player under guardiola and for the same reason that city just spent 60m on rodri.
Yeah that team would have absolutely no defensive cover and would have to score 4 a game to stand a chance of winning.
It will be awhile before we see Lo Celso start a game.
Lloris
Kwp Toby Verts Rose
Winks Ndombele
Eriksen Lo Celso Son
Kane
Gazzaniga, Foyth, Sessegnon, Sissoko, Dele, Lucas, Lamela
Next week:
Lloris
Kwp Toby Verts Rose
Ndombele Winks
Lucas Eriksen Lamela
Kane
Hopefully Lo Celso will make the bench next week. Dele ETA of return?

how did ndombele perform?

Struggled until he got his goal then totally transformed
Definitely not match sharp yet
Don't think that first half was as bad as Sandy makes out. Kane missed two opportunities right at the end - a header over the bar and a slider past the left post.
Both should have gone in.
True the midfield kept on getting suckered into the long ball over the top, and Toby definitely kept goal number 2 out.
Real question for me is just how good Villa are compared with the top ten teams. Perhaps we were playing a relegation area team?
In which case Sandy is right!
Well, we'll find out next week won't we?

Ted, Spurs did what they have been doing for months, huffed and puffed without any creativity until Eriksen came on. To many 5 out of 10 players, instead of real quality. Hopefully though when the injured players come back things should improve.
How good a team do you think Villa are, Sandy?
Good enough for top ten?

I don’t think judgement can be made on the first game of any season especially when bedding in new players.
Let’s see where we are by mid September.
Good enough performance today against a newly promoted team witch is always going to be difficult.
I’m very happy 🍺
Totally agree with Sandy about the game today, the first half was so slow lacking tempo and to see Eriksen warming up on the touchline for 2/3rd of the game was criminal, did change when he came on, thought Poch could have made all his subs earlier, but that's the way he does it, seems to lack cohesion with Lamela in the front 3 , not a big fan, Sissoko's shooting doesn't get any better
I agree that the 1st half wasn't great but Kane missed a sitter header that would have made half time feel alot better.
You can see why Poch wanted Dybala for that added creativity, which is something we've lacked when Eriksen's not played. I think Poch perhaps thought that we'd get by without it today against this Villa side until he of course brought Eriksen on.

The Prem is filled up with so many teams similar to Villa, that they could finish halfway. They stuck 10 men behind the ball, and their game plan worked, until they tired late on.
