Bielsa got subs wrong on Saturday
Harrison was playing well then we replace him with Alioski so our sting went out from our left hand side - Clarke would have been a better option

Nice little throw away comment side, "Clarke would have been a better option", based on what?

Jack Clarke was a revelation when he first got into the side but Bielsa is watching him in training day-in day out and clearly he isn't seeing that in him at present.

My view on Clarke is that whereas, on his day he has good close control, he is slow and tends to go up blind alleys. I also think he's better on the right.

I would have kept Harrison on and replaced Douglas with Alioski.

Harrison seemed to take a knock, I think that's why he was brought off.

As for who replaced him - Gianni is supposed to be left wing, so seems the logical call - although he didn't really influence the game when he did get introduced.

Overall I thought we should have had 3 points in the bag well before they (inevitably) equalised. Saturday was like a summary of last season, especially the latter part. Loads of possession, dominate teams for the most part and come away with a draw or a loss because we get sucker punched.

Bamford in my view, and others near where I sit, was often isolated. I'm not as technically astute as others on here, but personally I think he'd be better with someone alongside him. I'm not convinced, at all, that he's suited to lone striker role. There's a good player in there - but boy does he need to start scoring at home.

It's disappointing to not get 3 points but that's football. The reason it's an exciting game is that the team that's the best doesn't always win. This one game isn't going to define our season, there's 44 to play. Norwich fans wanted their manager sacked this time last year.

There are actually a couple of things different that I noticed - we are clearing our lines more often when last season we tried to pass out everytime. More crosses are going in the box too. Let's see how things work out after the next 8 games.

As for Bamford, should have scored based on 4 good chances. But in terms of his all round game, Forest couldn't live with him. He ran them ragged and actually played better than he did last season minus finishing. Goals will come.

Disappointed but certainly not down, we’re playing well for the most part.

More players to come into the reckoning yet too.

Reasons to be cheerful ...... 👍👍

4 / 6 points for the rest of the season is 92 points and nigh on guaranteed promotion.

Some good comments on here fellas.Yes Bamford did a lot of things right but sadly missed the chances that would have made all the difference.

Just got to keep trying to improve and execute the game plan more ruthlessly.we are not far off.so long to go in the season.

Just feel Clarke is more direct and tries to make things happen, Alioski for me sometimes slows play down

I thought Harrison got a knock also. If not for that, I think everyone wanted Douglas taken off and Alioski on in his place. That's football though. Things happen.

Outside of that, I'm very optimistic about this season.
Long way to go. Players coming back. Nketiah to add.

Personally for the cup game I want to see the fringe players and new signings start.

Shack in midfield, maybe even giving bogus a run out

Costa and the new lad from arsenal starting

Alioski starting.

Give those players a chance to get themselves j to contention

I hope Costa does so well in the cup that Bielsa can't leave him out the 11 for Wigan. Just need more quality and another goal scorer in the team.

Shakelton was about to come on Saturday just before Forest scored

Bielsa seems very loyal so even Ayling will have problems getting his place back

Tottenham fans are not happy that Clarke isn’t getting game time. They are saying to bring him back to Tottenham in January if this continues.

It’s OK saying Alioski had no influence in the game, but he was standing completely alone on the touchline in front of the West Stand, when the action was on the other, congested, side and no player crossed to him. If they had, maybe he could have had an attempt at goal because no Forest players were near him either!

Last season, we won our first 4 matches and had the longest unbeaten record. Our first loss was to Birmingham on 22nd September. We’ve not started as well this time, but maybe there was the element of surprise last season.

It wasn’t the 2 dropped points. It was the same old from last season, not putting teams away.
Bielsa needs to learn quickly, probably more so than last season as I think we’ll concede more goals meaning it’s absolutely essential we put our chances away.

We're not stronger than last season
——
Kinnear told us all players coming are as good as or better than what we have or whom they replaced so how come we’re not stronger?

posted on 12/8/19

I wasn't knocking Alioski …. just pointing out that he had no real influence/impact on the game when he came on, which from memory of the game he didn't.

The attack did seem to favour the right hand side with Costa - perhaps understandably given his potential.

Think you're getting a bit hung up on that quote Jonty. Time will tell; no way at this stage to really gauge whether what we have is better or any worse. League position come May will answer that ….

Yep, not saying I disagree. I've read the comments from Kinnear and personally I treated them with a pinch of you know what. He maybe right, he maybe wrong about the players (and other bits).

It was spin, absolute spin.

Bottom line, if we're vying for promotion, I don't give 2 hoots what he releases as statements.

I think now the season's started, its probably time to stop beetling on about Kinnear and Orta... and start talking about footballers... you're boring the holy hell out of me, that's for sure

back to the football then - Promotion totally agree.. in the cold light of day I can't help but feel disappointed still.. I spoke to a Forrest fan this morning at work, even he said we were totally robbed, just like many games last season where we dominate the game, the stats, but don't take all 3 points..

I guess if you are going to draw, you'd prefer to play well..

I felt sorry for Bamford, the chances weren't sitters, and a confident player scores them.. and (with the lob) he created that himself with a first touch as good as anything we see in the prem.. I'm hoping he bags a hat full, he really could do some confidence.

Only time will tell with Kinnear's quote.

Basically it's whether Ben White is as good as or better than Jansson and Nketiah is as good as or better than Roofe. We know Costa is an improvement on our current wingers at least on ability.

White has shown a lot of promise and calmness in the first 2 games - against big, strong centre forwards too in Diadhiou and Grabban. He wasn't bullied, defended well and passed well. Jansson better in the air but on first impressions, White fits the system better than Jansson with his passing and the way he brings the ball out.

Nketiah we will see. Thing is with Roofe is he played half a season and problem was we never had him and Bamford available together for more than 7 or 8 games in total. If Bamford stays fit all season and Nketiah is good, then we are stronger up front just by having 2 strikers fit.

Me too ……… I work a few feet away from a Forest fan who said pretty much the same. Thought we totally outplayed them and he couldn't believe they got a point from the game …..

i hope bamford starts putting them away more consistently but right now he needs a little luck also.
when he hit the crossbar he actually keep the ball down.

I was thinking about starting a new thread but I think its a waste of space so I'll say it here instead!..

People were saying not to long back that they don't want the team to start off to strongly like they did last year and fade out again like they did last time out!..

They wanted to start slower and wait for the run in and play catch up, a dangerous game!,,

So, now that we've got 4 points from a possible 6, I hope the moaners ain't any off those that didn't want us to have a flying start, I mean, if they are than what grounds have they to moan?..

I'd think a flying start is better than a steady start any day, but, if anyone here wants a slow start than so be it, points in the bag are always better than catch up, but, Bielsa ain't got a clue!..

Eh?.
