Need more pace than that for counter attacks, so I’d go for Kane and Moura up front. Eriksen has to play regardless of his situation, we almost lost at home to Villa by leaving him out

Cannot see Lo Celso playing if past Poch decisions to go by. He doesn't rush anyone.
I would like to see a cameo appearance at least from Lo Celso though.
Is Eriksen even going to be here? I hope so. Despite the claim from the Spanish press otherwise, I have yet to be convinced as Real have their issues including quota of players and raising enough funds for Neymar. The last I hear from them, this morning, is that they are trying to flog Isco to fund the Neymar bid.
I hope Poch now realised playing Lamela as playmaker does not work.
If Eriksen is still here then we should be playing him, ahead of Lamela. I might play Sanchez with Verts at the back. He has been solid and at least, we rely less on Toby - remember his situation?

Lloris
Kwp Toby Jan Rose
Sissoko Winks Ndombele
Eriksen Kane Lucas

Lo Celso on the bench.

If Jan and Eriksen dont start I will cry. Have no idea how much we will miss those guys.

It’s a bad game to have as game two in the season. Away to the best team in the country is very tough and could be a psychological blow if we come up short, it’ll be like nothing has changed from last year.

Same team but eriksen for Lamela and Verts for Sanchez, assuming there is nothing weird going on with Jan.

With that team I’d be hopeful that we can compete.

Isn't it great when we play the first few games of the season to find our best team. All because we buy players too late in the window to have a proper look during pre season.

Might be a blessing in disguise to have this game so early, as we can still play Eriksen and Toby?

This.

As for the team, it pretty much picks itself really. Same as against Villa except Eriksen comes in for Lamela and Vert for Sanchez. Sissoko cannot find himself out wide on the left again. Needs to be marshalling the midfield.

Would be my realistic team. GLC won’t get thrown into a game of this magnitude til he’s had more time training with the squad. Dele out, Son suspended. Would have Sissoko over Winks just as I think we’ll need his energy and physicality in central mid against City - TNd can do the transition work. Moura behind Kane as he just drifts inside anyway, and plays better centrally IMO.

No way can Lamela start mate, he was awful at the weekend. Spurs cannot have any passengers.

Well it’s a guaranteed loss I’m afraid. No Son still and he’s our destroyer against City, they can’t seem to handle him. City are far to strong for us unfortunately and a team that’s still full of injuries, plus late signings that won’t play E.G Lo Celso, I see nothing but a loss

Vertonghen and Eriksen both aboslutely have to start this weekend. As far as I can tell, both are absolutely professional on the pitch despite what goes on off it. So unless they're causing issues in training or being ill-disciplined in some other way, they need to be facking starting as they're two of our best players.

On the one hand you’re agreeing we don’t know what our best team is, then you immediately go onto say the team picks itself?!

Personally think we are better suited to the 4231 than 433, as per my team. Don’t need to shoehorn Winks, Ndombele and Sissoko into the same side as it limits our forward options.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well we don't really know what our best team is without seeing how Lo Celso is. Might need a period of settling in yet, or he might fit in straight away and give us the extra quality we're looking for. But I wouldn't throw him into this game.

Due to the injuries the team almost picks itself at the moment, with the exception of playing Winks or Lamela. Think most of us would field the same team with just 1 or 2 changes.

Completely different type of game as we will now play on the counter attack most of the time. Son has really let himself and the club down badly by being suspended for this one due to his own stupid self. He and Lucas would be perfect for this game.

Anyway, we need to go solid base of 8 with some pacey attackers where possible.

—————-LLoris——

KWP. Toby. Verts. Rose.

Winks. Ndombele.

Sissoko. Eriksen. Lucas.

I think I am with you Don, nothing I saw Saturday, apart from the last 10 minutes makes me think Spurs have any chance at the weekend. Still too many players missing, and once again the team looks completely disjointed. I mean Verts sitting in the stand, what`s that all about?

I'm sure we'll approach a game against Villa differently to a game against City. That being said City are the best team in the league so it's going to be tough no matter what.

Hope we can try and snatch a draw at least.

Yep I’d be happy with that - always said I like us with 3 at the back and wing backs, but Poch seems to have abanonded this strategy unfortunately.

just dont think he has the right personel thats why almays think with KWP and Sanchez on the right we have an issue defensively

Sandy, I know it wasn't a walk in the park but Spurs dominated the game from start to finish really, the stats back that up. The whole second-half performance was very good and we were worthy of the three points.

However I do think we'll lose at the weekend.
