Mount, Abraham, Zouma, Emerson, Barkley, Pedro
----------------------------------------------------------
Mount & Abraham did alright. You could see (IMO at least) they'd be ideal subs in a scenario where we weren't banned this summer. Especially Mount, lots of energy and was tidy with the ball.
Zouma looked very nervous all game, ironic as he was one of the more experienced youngsters on the pitch. I'll give you that one.
Barkley was probably our best player in pre-season. Curious decision to start him on LW which means you can't criticize his performance too much. Think this season is his last chance though, if he doesn't leave an impression he's probably finished at the top level.
Emerson & Pedro are what they are. Considering how high the line was Emerson was always gunna play, and Pedro was a much needed experienced figurehead on the pitch with so much youth out there. Having him & Azpl operating the same side with such a high line? That was questionable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Devil to be honest I thought Pedro was awful.
He lost the ball so many times and put us in trouble.
I really do not think he helped the youngsters at all.
I group Dave ( azpi ) in with these comments as well
To be honest I thought Azpi should have apologised for he's performance but again and as per previous statements never ever though I would say this, but I really feel we need to phase him out, I think he's performances have deteriorated over last 2 years
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I also think that Azpi has deteriorated significantly over the last year or more. Reece James can't come into contention soon enough as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully we see Azpi phased out and James phased in over the course of the season.
Judging by Lampard's comments I'd say that's exactly what we can expect to see.
Mount, Abraham, Zouma, Emerson, Barkley, Pedro
------
Out of those, Zouma and Pedro looked poor to me.
I liked the look of Mount and Emerson was good for Chelsea. Abraham had good movement but seemed raw at this level. The only way he can improve by playing. Barkley had some good movement but overall thought he was average.

Its absolute bollox that liverpool have 3/4 days extra rest than us aswell.
A safe home game against newcomers to the league, we have to travel 100s of miles to manchester united on a sunday night. Ridiculous
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You played at home friday night. two days later we played away from home. We then have to travel players probably not getting back till 1/2 o clock from manchester and not sure if we trained yesterday. The match was two days later, but the affect of playing away probably made it 3.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
nah less than 2 you clown, we kicked off 3.5 hours later then you so that would more than cover your travel back down to London unless you were walking
being called a clown by you
Either way it's mental, 2 days in your words rest. Probably closer to 3 as it's a whole day travelling to and from manchester. Unless you think the players could rest/train sunday morning? It's why i'd use this as a friendly.

basic math you clown.
Apparently they didnt get back till midday Monday
Has Manchester moved or sommat? It really doesn't take a whole days travel because it's a couple of hundred miles up the motorway.
I'm assuming they were not all crammed into a one pop Fiat Uno either.

Just spoke to Frank, Team are in Turkey, Got back early this morning and went straight to the airport. Haven't trained since Friday.

I remember he had a spell where he lost the ball 3 or 4 times in a row at the end of the first half, besides that he was largely insignificant, but my defense of him was more in the context of the original poster criticizing the selection ahead of the game.
I'm inclined to agree with you via Azpl unfortunately. He's not quite getting Ivanovic 15/16 bad, but he seems to be declining fast. We could be seeing his last season in the team, it's sad.
If you play against Liverpool as you did against United, it could be a massacre.
The back 4 was terrible and the front 3 were toothless.
Lampard was too naive with that selection and he paid the price for it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
But it wouldn't transpire like that, had we grabbed the goal or two we deserved it would have been a different story. Butterfly effect and all that.
Chelsea were nowhere near as bad as some seem to be suggesting against Utd. Thought they played nice football albeit lacked a cutting edge or made bad decisions in the final third.
The problem seemed to be the CBs looked like they'd never played together before and the CMs weren't a great deal better so when Utd broke they walked through them. Put Rudiger and Kante in that team and it looks a hell of a lot better.
As for tomorrow, it's really difficult to call IMO because I have no clue how seriously the clubs are going to treat it and what teams will be put out. It's just a European version of the Community Shield and whilst nobody likes losing to another English team, I'm sure neither set of fans are that bothered.

Agreed if tammy had scored after 8 minutes the way we were playing the game would have developed completely different, he hit the post and we lost thats the way luck works. The team you started with on Sunday, has to be the worst Chelsea starting eleven for a Premier League match in recent memory.
Too many players that shouldn't be anywhere near your first team.
I fear for Frank Lampard, as the pressure will get to him because he really does care about the club.
