Seems to be a general consensus in football and on the media that the accidental handball rule is stupid. Much bigger problem than var although the one feeds off the other
Imagine the following quite conceivable scenarios, all in the penalty area and referred to VAR:
1. an attacking player accidentally handles the ball onto a defending players hand, a) resulting in a goal, b) not resulting in a goal;
2. a defending player accidentally handles the ball onto an attacking players hand, a) resulting in a goal, b) not resulting in a goal;
3. a defending player accidentally handles the ball into his own net;
What if any of these 5 scenarios happens outside the penalty area?
Which of the 10 would result in an allowed goal, which a disallowed goal and which a penalty awarded?
How long would the game have to be stopped to sort it out?
The events of the last couple of weeks just seem to reinforce my view that strikers with no arms will be worth a fortune in the next few years.
The most obvious benefit would be the accidental handball scenario, but also defenders wouldn't be able to pull them back as easily, and they might be more aerodynamic when doing diving headers?
It's an idea that I think has legs, just no arms.👕
Reading who were rock bottom of the Champo are beating Cardiff with 2 goals from Puscas, who has come out of retirement at the age of 92 to help them out. Remember him playing for Hoved at the Mol in the 50's.
I can envisage football shirts in the future having no arms with players having their arms inside the body of the shirt.
How can you coach a player to not accidentally handle the ball?
Also played for Honved when he spelt his name Puskas
Would make it difficult to go for a few pints before the match whilst wearing a replica shirt though DJ?
Very good point lonewolf, better not promote that idea
Yeah bit of a disastrous result for Mr Warnock today. Lord knows how old he is now but maybe time he gracefully retired. Not that he has ever done anything gracefully
Reading made a great signing with Puscas, he will single handedly keep them up i suspect.
Already we have had a SU shot hit a defenders arm accidentally in the box and nothing happens
U23s drew with Everton 0-0 Francis the star performer apparently.
Game was on Wolves TV but was a bit of a shambles apparently in and out of coverage first half though i guess for free you can'r complain

He's 106 but looks older.
He has actually stated that this is his last season in management.
Woohoo! another dinosaur out of the picture

Wouldn't be surprised to see Mick have one last stab
Decent goalless draw for the U23s today against an Everton team that won this division last season. Former Man City trainee Ed Francis played the Coady role at the centre of defence and captained the team. Jordao evidently made a good impression in his first appearance in a Wolves shirt. Norwegian John Kitolano another to catch the eye for Wolves with the Everton keeper needing to make a few good saves in the second half to earn them the draw

Speaking of dinosaurs?
Just looked at Torino’s record in 2019. Since the end of Jan they have played 23, won 15, drawn 6, lost 2
Torino are good, make no mistake it's a terrible draw.
Belotti and Zaza been playing together of late and one or the other scores every game it seems
Watched the last 20 odd minutes of the U23s earlier, Francis looked good actually as did Shabani and Perry. Don't know how many of last seasons team Everton had out but the fact we were all over them for most of what I saw bodes well.
Not sure if it would be a plus or not as I guess it means Torino have all this week to build up to Thursday but their league campaign does not start until next Sunday.
You're not confident are you Cinci. I think it'll be a tight game but I reckon if we can get back to molineux all square we'll be ok in the second leg.

Not very confident no. We can certainly beat them Goldi, I don't doubt that but the games are coming thick and fast now and Europe is always a banana skin, one away goal can swing a whole tie and they are more than capable. Hopefully as you say we can get home with a score draw.
Feels like we are going into one of those great to be a Wolves fan times with a match to really look forward to tonight, another home game next Sunday and a two leg Europa League tie against Torino that feels like a ‘we have arrived’ kind of match. And to make the next couple of weeks even better, we are good enough to more than hold our own in all those games. Certainly beats those long years in the championship in half empty stadiums
I would have thought the team picks itself tonight and will be the one that did so well in the second half of last season. But after Thursday’s impressive second half it now feels we have a much better bench from which to make changes in the latter stages with Ruddy, Vallejo, Saiss, Traore, MGW, Cutrone and Neto

I was thinking pretty much the same in the shower this morning. But isnt it weird how everything else about the matchday experience stays the same. How you get there, where you go for a pint, who you go with, where you sit, all the same routine as 5, 10, 15 years ago. But what happens on the pitch for those 90+ minutes is just astonishingly more brilliant.
