IMO people are over egging our defendive line position.
really we are just squeezing the play where sides are taking short goal kicks,
This is an issue for every side to learn about this year.
So far:
A) Man city: took short goal kicks but had the quality to get out of press or play a long ball accurately over our line.
B) norwich tried to take short goal kicks but didn't have the quality to do it and got caught out constantly. They got a few balls played in to tat finnihs lad (is he finnish) and thats great but 0-4 down its hardly an issue
C) Chelsea played 4-5-1 and lumped it at giroud who has no pace. Kante running at us hurt us more.
D) Southampton took no short goal kicks really. they just lumped it at TAA channel all the time and we coped fairly well. It was actually corner kicks that they did best off of.
Our tactics are clear, always have been. High press to win ball as soon as possible. With the new rule on goal ciks we need to be further up to press sides cbs who are in the box taking a short pass and if we do it right they have to knock it back to keeper for a rushed kick.
So for me its all a load of bull, especially this article but I thought i'd share what i see really going on rather than the tired hackery about us just playing a high line.
We will win 8 of first 10 games,
"IMO people are over egging our defendive line position."
I think you're over egging it with we are over egging the defensive line. The midfield as been anonymous.
Dont think the defence is bad as people saying it is. Remember we played city and chelsea who have some decent striker i say and it appears an inform pukki at Norwich. The goal conceded to Southampton was complete error from us. Every game teams give away chances. It now seems if we give away chances people are bashing us over the head with. Just look at arsenal and how many chances they conceded to Burnley. But according to pundits like champagne Charlie it is just liverpool with a dodge defence
This season has started just like last season. We play well in patches or a half at most, we still win games...

I'd say eggsactly right.
In the game v Chelsea the midfeld was nowhere., but they were out manned deliberately by cheslea's tactic.
in the game v Southampton TBH wijnaldum was not great and ox while he got another good bit of time under his belt he was not up to the pace of it. he did a couple decent things though.

yeah, its purely down to city playing a few long balls over the top and now LFC can't defend.
The issue for me is we are putting ourselves under a bit of pressure. I reckon the week gap now will sort a few things out. I don't see arsenal running us off the park.
I do see trouble ahead with the Shaqman.

Agree with this. I suspect we'll see a high energy approach vs Arsenal and we'll just run them over.

tbh what's shocked me is how up and down we've been within games.
we looked a bit outmanned and out gunned first half v saints but then we seems to out run them and they couldn't get near ball second half for a while.
we did that to Norwich for a period.
we played much better second half v city than first.
against Chelsea we really started well then let them into it or they took initiative, We then picked up in second half and then faded and picked up again in et.
I dunno. when we get it all together we should be fine
Klopp always talking about rhythm and we're just getting players back and into the swing of things. Results are all that matters atm imo.

and he is using subs to achieve that too. zero game time for lallana, shaqiri etc.
klopp clearly wants his 14 or 15 players doing the business. gomez/matip. mane/origi, ox/windy.
we are doing exactly what we did last year again. others have to wait.
