I think it’d hit Liverpool the hardest - take VVD and Salah out for the season and I think they take a big tumble.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think we'd be fourth at the very least but likely second.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree you'd be top four, but as I say, I think it'd hit you the hardest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is that hit the hardest then if we'd have achieved the same as everybody expects us to anyhow?
I think hit the hardest needs defined here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I suppose to put it the simplest way, I think it'd cost Liverpool more points than any of the others.
But you're so far ahead of the rest that it wouldn't necessarily cost you many - if any - positions in the table.
If we lost our best two players I doubt we’d make top 6

No i didn’t.
To clarify the OP. Im asking, if any one of the top 6 (not all of the top 6 sides at the same time) lost their 2 best players / most influential players for the season, who's season would it impact most.
For the record I think its Liverpool given how well VVD and Mane performed and what they contributed to a great season. They simply do not have the players to get close to performing as well.
Take out Aubameyang and Lacazette, and we finish the season with less than 15 goals across all competitions.
That’s from an Arsenal fan.
15 goals.

Yes. I mean if you're expected to finish fourth and finish fifth and therefore miss out on the CL, the riches it brings with it as well as the player pull, you've been hit harder than somebody losing points but achieving the same. That would impact you most.

In fact, even with him they tightened up a lot last season. Credit to Klopp there, he abandoned his "Heavy Metal Football" to produce a brilliantly effective side.

You’re forgetting how good Gomez is and while VVD is hugely important to them they could do well with a defence of Trent, Gomez, Matip and Robertson.
It would be a better defence than what we’d be able to put out with Maguire gone.
And their attack would more than compensate. They were still pretty good without VVD.

I think we'd be fourth at the very least but likely second.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree you'd be top four, but as I say, I think it'd hit you the hardest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How is that hit the hardest then if we'd have achieved the same as everybody expects us to anyhow?
I think hit the hardest needs defined here.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You dont think there is much difference in finishing where you did last season and scraping 4th?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who says we’d be scraping top 4?
If everyone is losing their best 2 players then everyone is dropping points. The you’d be worse of than everyone else is laughable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You said probably get top 4

If we lost our best two players I doubt we’d make top 6
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Take VVD and Mane out of Liverpools side and they would concede loads more (remember before they signed him?) and lose 30 goals.
None of the others would lose so much influence and not be able to replace ot / some of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Take Pogba out of our side and we have zero creativity and the worst midfield in the top 9/10 sides
Take Maguire out and our defence is worse than a Liverpool side even without VVD

15 goals.

What's your definition of that then, league position?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. I mean if you're expected to finish fourth and finish fifth and therefore miss out on the CL, the riches it brings with it as well as the player pull, you've been hit harder than somebody losing points but achieving the same. That would impact you most.

Do you remember Liverpool pre VVD?
In fact, even with him they tightened up a lot last season. Credit to Klopp there, he abandoned his "Heavy Metal Football" to produce a brilliantly effective side.

Fair point - I've been looking at it differently... the league position / finance thing just adds another variable into it and makes it even harder to call imo.

If everyone is losing they’re best 2 players or is this imaginary situation only affecting Liverpool?
Because if everyone is losing they’re best players I think we’d finish in very much the same position as last season, behind City.

On the other thread you said it would be Lovren for VVD & Lallana for Mane.
Tripe
Gomez for VVD & Origi for Mane.
- - - - - - - - - - - Allison
- TAA- - -Gomez- - - Matip - - - Robbo

-Salah- - - - - - Firmino- - - - - - - Origi
That’s still a very good side.
