First rumour. Stephen dawson 33 year old midfielder on a free from bury. Makes sense as played under hill at rochdale.

Other than Hobbs, wasn't there another 3 or 4 players ready to sign, where did they go?
There needs to be a very good look out for a goal scorer, would need to be a loan, not sure there will be many out of contract goal scorers around.

Benny, I would rather look for players at least 4 yrs younger than a 33yr old.
If we have a choice of course,

The players on trial were Parkinsons picks a most have gone I think. Keith hill will have his own ideas. The free agents don't have to be registered tomorrow just the loans and frees from other clubs. Priority has to be 3 strikers, a left back and 2 centre backs. A keeper too depending on alnwicks situation.

I would love to have Alnwick in , 3 strikers would be my first priority,

It all sounds very good but we will be lucky to get one decent striker never mind three.

Going to have to do something as going to get beat to nil every time unless strikers are brought in. I feel sorry for eddie brown, he's a midfielder playing up front, he's too lightweight and makes no impact at all. Wonder if wilbraham is available

I would rather have a banjo to hit a barn door.
Than Wilbraham

Perhaps Leroy Lita can be coaxed out of retirement in order to fulfil a prophecy. Even got a hit single to mark the occasion:

"I love it when we're signing Leroy Lita
I wish we could pretend we didn't need ya
But we really do la-la-la
It's true la-la-la"

It is going to be tough to tempt anyone but the decrepit and desperate in what's left of this window. Sorry to be downbeat, but we just barely survived liquidation by the skin of our teeth and bring miracles we are heading to League 2. We didn't become Real Madrid overnight last Wednesday

We have to get a few in today but we can always sign frees and loans after the deadline. So I suspect that is what will happen. Keith and David can concentrate on the players that they really want and sort the rest later if they can't get them over the line before 5:00 pm.

I don't think we can get loans after the window closes. That's why it's such a difficult situation: the only way to register a player outside the window is if he is not currently registered anywhere else (i.e. a free agent) - so basically players who have been made redundant and have been unable to find anyone else to employ them.

I'm not sure that we can but Iles stated that we can so it remains to be seen.

I see Daryl Murphy from Forrest is being muted as a possible addition

posted on 2/9/19

Iles also saying three good prospects are Liam Bridcutt, Jake Wright and Thibaud Verlinden. We will see if any of the three make it over the line.

From the EFL website (their gaff, their rules):

"The deadline for Championship Clubs for all incoming permanent and loan registrations is 5pm on Thursday 8 August, 2019.
League One and League Two Clubs will have until 5pm on Monday 2 September, 2019, due to August 31 falling on a Saturday."
The way I read that, loans have to be signed by teatime today. We can assume that approaches were already being made, players and agents contacted about "in principle" moves subject to the takeover, but we must also assume that any work Parky was doing on that front has been stalled. As someone said further up the thread, the new management will be looking to call in some favours: "Please let me borrow any modestly paid benchwarmers of voting age you have going spare. Today would be good."
