I would say I hope he rots in the U23s but that would be harsh on the U23s.
Just give him 4 gardening leave.
I'd like to think that there's still a half decent defender in there somewhere, despite all the drama. Wasn't he the same player who was the beating heart of that defensive pairing that went unbeaten for more than 20 games when he signed for us?
The lad's confidence is completely shot. Just needs a coach who will put a nurturing arm around his shoulders and he'll be back in the trenches in no time.
Yeah give him another chance..LOL...didn't play few games and fans quickly forget how bad he is, and then when Emery plays him and he makes mistake everyone calls out Emery and say I told you so about Mustafi and how bad he is.
Anyone holding out hope for Mustafi's improvement is a raving lunatic.
Or they've clearly not seen that twitter thread of all of mustafi's mistakes. Even a lunatic can't ignore that.

I generally try to be an optimist and it seems like you're the same with this comment. Probably best to just cut our losses though and leave him to play the unimportant games to keep our better defenders fresh for the important ones
He wont improve but can give others a rest when it comes to Europa and EFL.
I'm concerned that, like Xhaka, he's too far developed to improve significantly. Some good coaching might help him a bit but he's probably limited as to how much.
He could still be a decent squad player for cup games and injury cover like Luzhny or Cygan, but won't be a defensive rock, and I feel bad for him.
Just at arsenal he’s had 2 managers and 2 sets of coaching staff to improve him. He’s just declined. You may think emery and wenger weren’t the best while he was here, but there’s no way any coach/manager wouldn’t have tried to coach him away from his diving in, silly decision making and so on. These are basics. I’m afraid he just isn’t cut out for this level. I’m sure even he knows he shouldn’t be doing it, and is frustrated that he does. It probably is a pressure/confidence thing, he just can’t make the correct choice under pressure. Which while playing for a team at this level no matter how skilful you are, you probably aren’t meant for this standard if you can’t deal with it.
He might have a decent career playing somewhere mid table ish in France, Italy, or a good Turkish side. But here he just can’t cope. I feel bit sorry for him, because he does try and cares about the team and he doesn’t kick up a fuss. But it’s just not going to work for him, he’s been given a lot of chance and patience to improve, but he hasn’t
