Op interesting you didn't put the spending into context with the amount of money we have recouped in player sales
Also Klopp came in after i think 8-10 games picking up Brodges mess so again a bit of a mis-representation re the context of his first season
Also as a top manager Klopp is tried and tested and has won trophies so he has earned the right to be given time, lampard hasn't
Agree with the outlook you have however if it goes wrong I wouldn't expect too much leeway come the second season.
Tammy I must say has impressed me no end.
Thought he held his own against liverpool in the super cup, was great against utd and so so unlucky to not grab the opener and has now scored 4 goals in 3 starts in the league.
At Villa he never really impressed me but as long as he puts the ball in the net that's all we need, and his all round game has impressed me.
A few morons on here call his tammy welbeck, but the guy has already scored half the goals welbeck scored in his last three league season. (52 games)

Net is about 90m which is the stat that really matters here.
Lampard deserves some time, he should also be under less pressure due to the transfer ban which is sort of a positive for him
Transfer ban which bought in 2 new players
That's all well and good but the comparison to Klopp fitted better with Sarri and no-one wanted to hear it last year.
Although it sounds like I'm bashing him (promise I'm not), Lampard compares to AVB much better. They both have only a year's worth of experience as a manager before making a massive jump to us, he's taking the same bold stance emphasizing the younger players cutting the old guard out (going as far as selling Luiz), and (so far) they share a very similar tactical framework on the pitch. And the same danger signs that were there for AVB are there for Lampard now - tactical naivety, defense is structurally imbalanced by the tactics, etc...
AVB was a very smart man who sank himself, if Lampard sees the parallels and corrects the mistakes (which he should as he disliked AVB), he'll be fine.
I think a top 6 finish should see Lampsrd given the right to go again next season and see him spend the money that Chelsea hasn’t spent. Anything less than a top 6 and I think they’ll pull the trigger and the cycle will start again.

I take it he means pulisic who was bought before him, and kovacic who was also done before lampard arrived.
But it is kash, so I would just ignore him tbh.

Exactly!
The man didn't even have a pre-season with the team yet he was pretty much hounded out. Now all of a sudden it's different.
hounded out by who? Most on this board wanted him to stay
I know this is not the point of your article but the Liverpool analysis is poor to say the least
It's not really
I was more talking about klopp being given time which renders the net spend argument irelevent
Klopp was given time to build he spent alot of money and sold the deadwood in the time he was there.
I'm not bashing the amount you spent at all. I'm praising Liverpool (begrudgingly) not only the board who had a long terms vision but also the fans for sticking with him and also having the king term in their heads and now they are reaping the rewards of that.
It's exactly the model Chelsea should be using right now

Agreed, very shady comparison by the OP, but the same feeling of prospective needed is shared to it. The path we've undertaken this year won't be reaping any rewards in it's first season (or highly unlikely too) so much deeper analysis is required beyond the results - at this stage they're almost irrelevant.
