Can played 30 games in league for juve and won the italian league.
So he's got a winners medal to go with the 3 runners up meadls he got with us.
I personally DEEPLY thank him for leaving cos we got fabinho.
I am delighted Coutinho left seeing Alisson and VVD playing for us.
No need to grind them to paste or take pleasure in their faliures. The money reinvested has really delivers us a team in coutinhos case at least. The gap can left lead us to bring in a proper player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Keita is more of a Can replacement and that has gone very bad so far.
Fabinho replaced Henderson in the DM role so basically we are waiting for Keita to join the party before thinking we are better off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember saying on here Keita had struggled and was told he was doing very well.
For the price paid he's been a massive let down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As is so often the case on ja606, the truth is somewhere between the two extremes.
He hasn't been a massive let down and he didn't struggle all season. He took time to get used to the pace of the league and he had injuries.
Keita played 30 odd games for us last year. Does anyone really believe that when we're fighting for the league title and the CL he would have played 30 times if he was a massive let down?!
He had some good games, some average ones and some poor games. Most think he's capable of more but it was an ok first season. Not great but not bad.
Keita has been good when we've actually got him out on the pitch but that has been far too rare an occurrence.
Very frustrating and no signs he will be back any time soon either.
How many of those 30 games did he start? How many 90 mins did he complete?
Even Shaq who hardly got a kick last season was involved in 30 games.
Keita did not justify the hype. When fit this season he needs to show a lot more.

Saying Shaqiri hardly got a kick is just plain wrong. He played a really valuable role in the first half of the season and got 6 league goals (our highest outside the front 3). He was a squad player and did well when asked to play.
Keita started 16 league games apparently. Not dissimilar numbers to Matip (17) or Milner (19).
Keita played his part. He didn't hugely impress, I'm not trying to claim he did, but he's not some major flop either. Needs to kick on this season though and apparently should be back in contention by the end of the month.

Well considering before you signed him, most on here had him down as coming in and being the key midfielder.
He's been a Pogba style let down imo, big fee, shown flashes but never produced consistently and against the expectations he arrived with a massive let down.
Can’t remember what game against city it was as we’ve beaten them so many times in recent season laugh but one of those games a couple of seasons ago he was an absolute beast

----------------------------------------------------------------------
This big fee you're talking about is pretty much going rate for midfielders in their early 20's with a year or two of performances behind them. Keita cost very similar money to Fred, Jorginho, Ndombele.
The step up from Leipzig to Liverpool is big and he struggled with injuries. He needs to improve but he did ok.
If you want to label him a "Pogba style let down" then fair enough, that's your opinion. It's a strange comparison given the comparative expectations around a seasoned international player, coming from another massive team in Juve, who commanded a world record fee, who knew the club already and is now entering his 4th season with the club. But fair enough, that's your opinion.
Why is this even being discussed? Keita has not made enough appearances for anyone to judge whether he's good or not.
When he was fit he played some games and was decent and improving until he got injured again. Pogba has been fit more often than not and the two cannot be compared.
If a player is a "let down" because of injury as opposed to being crap on the pitch then perhaps you have a point.
Hopefully Keita will overcome the fitness issues and play a full season or thereabouts and then we can judge whether he's a "let down" and how good he is.
Well considering before you signed him, most on here had him down as coming in and being the key midfielder.

Hogwash.

is more accurate and will probably still happen.
Can is better would be my final take.
We'll see when Keita is fit, won't we?
Don't know if this has been asked or answered here, but didn't Can sign for Liverpool for free?

Nope - £10m which I think was his release clause.

Why is there a hatred for him by the Liverpool fans?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
There are always a few fans who aren't happy when a player runs down a contract and leaves on a free but there aren't any hard feeling from the majority.
The fans I know think he had a lot of ability which never regularly translated into game performances so were a bit nonplus at his departure.
I think theres a general nelson muntz attitude to Can.
I don't know anyone who hates Can. Theres just a lot of pointing and going Ha Ha.
Its like how people like their ex's to look miserable if they do ever meet up. simple really.
