Salah couldnt control a ball complete a pass or dribble tomori had pace to keep up with him but it was mainly salahs shocking touch that let him down worst game ive seen from salah since hes been here i think.
Chelsea did well exploiting space with the fullbacks targeting taa who was left to def 3 vs 1 at times on that side but Liverpool were awful second half invited it on giving you the ball back time after time every chelsea attack felt like it was started by salah that half.
That said we had enough chances to make it 3-0 too and your keeper pulled off some top saves too. I think Chelsea look promising and if youd have equalised couldnt complain as you were the better team second half Liverpool were well off it and we got lucky at timez. did take a solo goal to get you back in it moments before that salah was in 1v1 and two shocking touches lead him back into 3 chelsea defenders summed up salahs day right there.
Don't think many teams will have a better chance to beat Liverpool than Chelsea did today.
Our front 3 were way off it.
Having said that, I've been impressed by Chelsea so far this season, so scrap for top 4 should be interesting.
Great article Bridge and it mirrors my optimism. I'm not expecting much from this season, so if we achieve top 4 it will be a bonus in my eyes.
The one thing I disagree about your post was that we need another CB when the transfer ban breaks. I personally think Tomori has taken most people by suprise with his form and has actually leapfrogged Christensen and Zouma in the hierarchy at CB and to sign another partner for Rudiger when he's fit would block his development. (Also don't forget we have another highly talented CD in the development team in the form of Marc Guehi).
IMO I think it's far more important to add more fire power to the attack, with another top striker to lighten the load on Abraham!
Exciting times ahead hopefully!
Brummie not explained myself very well. What I meant was Tomori as I said is displaying maturity way above he's years and not advocating replacing.
What I neglected to say was this, I think if we purchase a top CB and someone like Chilwell at LB, we could have a hell of a defence with a back 3 , Rudiger included and wing backs bombing on, maybe Rice at RB..
I think a back 3 will suit us perfectly then
If we can keep Emerson fit I’m not sure we’ll need a LB either. Looked like he’d stepped up this season before the injury
Even if granted the freedom, I'm not sure we need anyone in January tbh.
Part of what we're doing atm should demand only recruiting absolute proven commodity players around the ages of 23 to 26, it'll send split signals to the players if we impulse buy squad padding to fill gaps - which is all you'll likely get in January.
In a perfect scenario next summer we should be looking at going big (80mil+) on one or two rather than middling on three, four or five.
Well said Bridge of Dreams. Spot on article
Very excited to see how this team evolves and grows. Can't wait to see Hudson-Odoi and Reece James in this side very soon as well. Quietly confident that both will smash it .

I agree about the LB position but I think we're ok for CB with AC and Zouma as cover.
Rice at RB? Do you mean Reece, as in Reece James?
Devil not advocating wholesale changes or impulse buys.
We just need a slight tweak.
I actually disagree that those type of players cannot be bought in January, I think they can, yes it may cost a lot but think of the results we could get.just from 2 little tweaks to the side
Brummie apologies yes Reece James, I had west hams player in mind for some reason, I was watching him today

Absolutely
As I see it a LB and Striker and next summer a replacement for Willian and Pedro. We must have at least £300m burning a hole in our pockets. Just three players to compliment the youngsters should do us fine and if the right players aren't available then wait until the right ones are!

Took my so today, and was well impressed with Chelsea's second half display. I'm not a big fan of Alonso but he was superb, and but for some poor finishing, the three points could have been Chelsea's.

Absolutely + 1, stop gaps or panic buys got us into our current state over time. Only the very best should be bought now if available in weaker areas. We aren't in too had a shape.
Why are you so excited about losing to Liverpool? Even before Roman's money you rarely lost to Liverpool at home.

If you had bothered reading the posts you would know 2 things, 1, the answer to your question and 2, we don't all think the same.
I'm not as optimistic as many on here. I think we'll be lucky to finish top 6. I am though enjoying watching our 3 young English players.
The plain truth is that defensively, we are not good enough. Tomori has been brilliant and I'm hoping he and Rudiger can make a good pairing at the back. But where we have problems is in the full back positions. We need proper full backs who can tackle, who are positionally sound and who can cross the ball.
I also think we need are a little light in midfield. Okay, we are missing RLC but Kovacic is just too lightweight in there. We need a stronger presence, a good box-to-box player, maybe with a few goals.
Today, I feel Lampard missed a trick. Pulisic Liverpool a few weeks back - a bit of pace and trickery may have undone them today so I was a little upset not to see him come on instead of Batshuayi.
Can't wait for CHO to come back. Hope we at least mount a challenge for top 4 but it's looking unlikely.
I'll take 6th, I'm hoping for 4th but 6th will do, we can push on from there.
We just need to phase out the old guard now...
Willian Alonso Azpi - we are frankly weaker with any of these playing now...very weak if all three are, especially in a back 4
Jorginho needs to play more of the ball instead of the opposition...sloppy discipline lately
Pedro if needed but prefer as an impact sub
Giroud is fine as a super sub
Bats i've never been sold on at all
Barkley...massively over rated
Kova...still not doing it for me
I'd love to see
Kepa
James Rudiger Tomori Emerson
Jorg Kante Rubes Mount
CHO Tammy
You could easily move to a 343 with this too
push Emerson up, slide Rubes or CHO wider, & slot Mount in as a No10
Then you've got a subs bench of
Pedro
Pulisic...who may become a starter
Kova
Zouma
AC
Giroud
Alonso
Azpi
until we can buy replacements
