I’m really starting to dislike Guardiola.
These comments are an embarrassment. He could easily give Foden more game time but he chooses not to.
Pathetic stuff.

I think it's really honest of him and shows his guilt in that he hasn't played him more. I always felt as the season went on he'd get more games and I still fell that is true as he continues to take his change when given it.

Honest?
No it's not.
There have been plenty of opportunities for Foden to play and if Pep was being honest, he'd say that he doesn't trust him to perform at a level required for City to win games.
If he really did deserve to play more minutes he’d play him. I suspect Pep’s telling porky pies.
"he deserves to play more minutes"
Says the guy in charge of how many minutes he plays.
It's a ridiculous comment.

That isn't true at all. He deserves to play more minutes but he has good players, with more experience, in a squad competing on all fronts ahead of him. So it's a difficult balance.

Of course it's a difficult balance, but Pep is trying to have his cake and eat it.
He's trying to gather sympathy for Foden when it's him who decides whether he plays or not.
Yeah but then he doesn’t ‘deserve’ to play ahead of those players in Pep’s eyes, hence why he doesn’t.

I don't think he's trying t gather sympathy. He's feeling guilty that Foden hasn't got as much game time as he could have. It's a difficult situation for a manager of a squad such as his. If it were Mourinho for example, he'd get no game time at all. Not many coaches can get a good balance with a squad like City have.
Put yourself in his shoes, you've got a squad that has top players across it. You're expected to compete for every trophy. You have a young talented player who you want to fit in but his best position he has De Bruyne and Silva ahead of him.
No doubt if Silva, at his age goes at the end of the season, rather than buying a player, Foden will take his place. If he doesnt then you would definitely be correct but as I say, i expect him to play more games this season and take over from Silva in the end.

" He's feeling guilty that Foden hasn't got as much game time as he could have."
Then say that. Be honest about why this is the case.
We all know it's because he thinks there are other players that are better than him and he's not prepared to risk playing a youngster when the pressure is on to get results.
Coming out with this crap about him being the best player he's ever worked with is just nonsense when you don't back it up with actions.
"If it were Mourinho for example, he'd get no game time at all."
What a ridiculous comment. Pep is just as bad as Mourinho, possibly even worse.
It's October and Foden has played 11 minutes of football (with the exception of the league cup).
11 minutes!
"No doubt if Silva, at his age goes at the end of the season, rather than buying a player, Foden will take his place."
Really?
You think he's going to go from playing 11 minutes of football in 3 months to starting in Silva's place?
That doesn't look remotely likely at the moment - no matter how much Pep tries to make you believe it.
That’s all well and good but why doesn’t he bring him off the bench for meaningful sub appearances when City are comfortably winning?

This.
Away at West Ham - 5-0 win and Foden gets 10 minutes.
Why not bring him on at 2-0, after an hour?
He doesn't trust him. He can't do, can he?
It would appear he doesn’t. I do find it odd that given how much he talks him up he doesn’t seem to maximise the chances he has to get him on the pitch.
How often have City got matches wrapped with ages remaining on the clock? You’d think he’d be using those opportunities to give him premier league minutes.

Pep trusted Foden enough to start him against spurs last season in their toughest game in the title run in. Trust isn't an issue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what is the issue then?
Or did Foden do something wrong in that game, to lose his trust?
In the summer, Pep said he's the most talented player he'd ever seen.
--------
Really?
That sounds so sincere.
"I have said many times in press conferences, but maybe not said it in front of him, Phil is the most, most, most talented player I have ever seen in my career as a manager.
"His only problem is sometimes his manager doesn't put him in the starting XI. Hopefully in the future that can improve."
Pathetic.
So Foden is the most, most, most talented player Pep has ever seen in his career as a manager?
He's so humble, sincere and honest. He's not condescending and patronising at all.

Yes, I expect to see more involvement for him as the season progresses and depending on how their cup runs go.
It just feels a bit rich to be waxing lyrical about Foden and saying what a shame it is that he doesn't get more game time, when he's the guy who ultimately could change that. All a bit hollow imo.
I don’t think that one game, which came aftet the taxing CL game against Spurs, is an indication that he trusts him given he doesn’t play him in the premier league. That’s fine, and it’s Pep’s call, but people always make excuses for Pep not having trust in the younger players.
