I have watched the replay again and again... I don't think Xhaka actually ducked the ball. I think he wanted to head it over but Sokratis deflected the ball with his arm, and that took the ball away from Xhaka
As much as I don't want Xhaka as captain/in the team at all, I do think he lowered his head to head to ball and the deflection took it away.
Xhaka played alright tonight
I stand corrected...a different angle showed the deflection.
No. you have to make yourself big. deflection or no makes no difference.

I cant stand Xhaka at all and would sell him for 15 mill. But,having played regular sunday league, you'd be surprised how a small deflection at that pace can leave you stranded

not the point. as I said in the match day thread. when someone shoots with a rising shot you have to try to deflect the ball up. basically that increases the tangent of the ball away from the goal. basic defending that I am sure xhaka knows. this is why I suspect he ducked. His head movement was not natural. it doesn't matter if he had got there. we will never know if he doesn't put his body on the line!
That makes it 4 yellows in 7 league games for Xhaka.
I can see him setting an all-time record at this rate.
