Not every club has to follow the same blueprint, we currently have defence minded full backs, but can allow the CBs to wander more and fill the midfield.
We'd all love to be in Liverpool's position, right now... But trying to match their exact system is not always the best way. (Also, they did leak 3 goals last night!)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Law of averages. It’s going to happen every now and again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You've had a few close calls this season defensively, of say you were lucky Mcbernie didn't have his shooting boots on the weekend for example.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We hit post twice and Salah missed one on one.
Chillwell was a Liverpool target for 10m before he was playing regularly for Lesta and before Robertson was signed. That said are there many teams that use a system which utilises fullbacks like we do? Certainly dont think Utd do atm.

True, however there are examples of the defence looking much less stable than last season.
It's not going to happen Robb. Not with Williams coming through. Shaw will stay for now and Williams will likely take his place in the next year or two.

Chilwell isn't all that though is he. Not seen anything of him to suggest he is anything but just a decent player like Shaw.
Shaw actually is very good defensively but not great going forward. Something you could also say for AWB.
There is hardly an abumdance of great left backs out there. The very best being Alaba who is unatainable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree. He's the best around other than Robertson in my view.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What’s he good at exactly?
Defensively he is average
Offensively he is average. He is just an ok player nothing more. The lad has 1 goal and 7 assists in 4 seasons. Not seeing what the fuss is about him whatsoever, yes he may turn into a very good left back but not currently. I’d say he and Shaw are on a par to be honest
I agree with Robb, Chilwell is absolutely an unpgrade on Shaw. I'd like to see how Williams does this season first before splashing out on a new LB.

Enda Stevens at Sheffield United would be a steal, already a far better player than shaw

Love it when people make moronic claims like that. Probably hardly seen him play and only just managed to get in a shocking Ireland team at the age of 29.
Shaw is a decent player and ultimately there’s a lot more pressure on a player for Man Utd than Sheffield United.

Seen him live a heap of time skip I've an ROI season ticket, maybe you jumped the gun here not me eh!
Pressure is not a reason for Shaw to be average which he is, Stevens is a better player and its just that simple.
He'd slot straight in and do a better job going backwards and forwards than any left back currently at United.

Nicely made up bollox there lad.
You said I'd barley seen him play, I've seen him live plenty of times, he's a good player, better than anyone you have, the OP specifically mentions Robertson, who came from relegated Hull.

Watched him closley on Saturday too v us, best player on the pitch that day, runs the game for Sheffield Unitedf from wing back.

No you don't. Just because you are Itish doesn't mean you know loads about him. Hey I am English does that make me more knowledgable about English players now. Fact is you have seen a few games where he may have played decent and automatically you have that typical knee jerk reaction as a football fan.
Fact is he is 29 and has 11 Irish caps and I see nobody even mentioned about signing him. Yeah he is great lad
Anymore names you want to pluck out your arrrsehole and pretend you know loads about them who are great?
Do you want Alonso...
You like our cast offs...we can do a good deal
I mean if I'm a season ticket holder for ROI I'm obviously going to have a vested interest in the players, especially ones that are now playing in the premier league as we don't have many of them.
I've seen him play live in every home game he has played for Ireland, I've seen him on tv in all the aways he's played.
I literally just watched him play v Liverpool last weekend where he had a really good game.
So for a player I've "pulled out of my arrrshole" I've spent a weird amout of time watchig him.
Look mate you clearly got all excited thinking I'm making up names, I've just shwon you up by callinbg out how much I've seen him play, watching a player live multiple times allows you form an informed opinion on said player, which I have done.
