Always thought he was a little weak

Even as a player

Glad he was a super sub most of the time

I wouldn’t be against it but we should realise it’s not a traditional DoF role - it’s more of a token role that gives Ed most of the power and decisions

I think what Ole (or whoever they hire) would do would be to be an ambassador/middle man and do a lot of the dirty work Ed doesn’t want to do.

If Ole is okay with that and shows the ability to do so then yes

I'd be happy with that. I think he understands the profile of players we need to sign. Whether he has the managerial ability to bring us success once the squad has been rebuilt remains to be seen. He is making some odd decisions right now.

Would you be happy with him taking on the DOF role or would you prefer a clean break?

Clean break, no deal. No such thing as a 'jobs first' alternative.

================

Its sad how fast this changed

I get the feeling that he's doing too much at the moment and trying to sort things out that really a DoF should be doing.

He's not a SAF and isn't good enough to take it all on so he should just concentrate on coaching the team IMO.

He'd help himself immensely if he just set us out on the front foot in every game. Give us something to shout about and I'm certain better performances (which should yield better results) will come.

I actually don't think he's weak I just think he's getting the set up of the team wrong.

If this is the case (and we don't know that it is), then what's the point? Let Ed fall on his sword.

I wouldn't be against him being 'moved upstairs' into the DoF role if the team on the pitch (for which he's directly responsible) were playing the kind of football that we want to see.

IMO the whole point of getting in a DoF is to help us establish a clear style of play (no matter who the manager) which the fans will enjoy seeing. At present this isn't happening under his watch which is a shame as there was so much promise in his first few games. I know we have injuries but we should always try and play the same way regardless.

I’m not sure why anyone would take on any ‘DoF’ role under Woodward.

He’s already said we don’t need one. And I think the overwhelming likelihood is that any DoF or TD who is appointed won’t be making executive decisions on players and won’t have the kind of wide-ranging powers or authority we need to see.

In fact, I’d take a healthy bet on seeing any DoF appointed quitting the role within six months.

If there's a fan movement to be had, it isn't getting the manager out, its getting ed out.

We've seen success and investment from the glazers, and whilst we may be financially Bette riff without them, our real issue is Ed.

You guys don't learn do ya... Hire a proper manager & hire a decent DOF..... OGS is neither. He WAS a good player that's it. Sentiment is killing you..... Move on

We dont need a DOF.

We have scouts, a head scout, and coaches who should be scouting / considering players of various profiles (wonderkids, prem proven, best of British, foreign alternatives, world class players) so that whoever the manager is, we have extensive reports on potential targets.

Who gives them direction and targets?

If Ed than we are never going anywhere.

If the manager, then the scouts will be changing their targets every season
