at least for the next couple of weeks please
I'm on board with what I think Ole is trying to do and I agree with a lot of your article. However, Ole has to take responsibility for the poor performances we're seeing on the pitch at present. If those performances improved then I'd be much more optimistic.
On one hand I'd love to see what Ole does with another summer window, as I like the business we did in the summer.
I also think people overstated the level that our youth players are currently capable of too. They are talented and have potential, but compared to Chelsea's youth they're younger and more raw. They should be compared to McTominay not the likes of Gomes and Greenwood.
I also wonder if bringing in a new manager now would destine them for failure. This squad isn't good enough to meet fans expectations, so if we are bringing in somebody new, surely it has to be at the end of the season, or nearer to?
"Ole is not the manager to get us challenging. But he may well be the manager who puts in a good foundation for the next guy to come in and take us forward."
I agree and this is key for people to see. Our current (or next) manager isn't going to be the man to bring us success and titles. It's a rebuilding process.

He’s not even doing enough to last past the end of this month let alone be this hero who rides into the sunset with a better squad for the next guy

Right now I feel like he has more of an idea what he wants to do off the pitch than on it although I'm going to hold off giving any opinion on his signings for a while because it's too early to tell.
I need to ask what it is that people think he's trying to do on the pitch because I haven't much of a clue at the moment and that's even without our injured players.
The principals he started off with that brought the team so much success initially have been completely abandoned.
For somebody most of us thought would at least play fast positive football no matter what, he has us doing the complete opposite at the moment and I can only have so much sympathy with him in regards to the squad he has and players he's currently without.
The football we're seeing now is just as bad as it was under Mourinho and Van Gaal.
Something's got to give soon, one way or another.
I'm not really seeing what Ole is trying to achieve though sadly and that's becoming the main issue. He isn't trying to play a more offensive attractive football that he said he would, he isn't playing players in their best position to get the most out of them, he isn't dropping players based on performances, he isn't really given the youth the chance he said they would when you consider how poor our other options are and he seemingly isn't adapting to his mistakes.
Sadly he seems a bit clueless and the worse we get the more out of his depth he seems. Like I've said many times, he deserves more time because the board gave him the job, but if he doesn't change things then he won't be here for much longer.

Ah sorry I wasn't clear in my original comment. I did mean off the pitch in terms of selling/releasing players, the profile of players we've signed and seem to be targetting etc, the lack of throwing players under the bus and the dignity with which he's doing his job.
He needs to improve the on pitch stuff though absolutely. A formation change and a change to a more aggressive and attacking mindset is certainly needed.

Who is going to do that though?
This isn't a job for a Mourinho, Allegro, Conte etc who are looking for short term success. It's almost got to be a young manager looking for a step up in his career.

There’s a myth it will take forever to be successful with what we have
A competent manager who the club trust to spend the money can get us competing for the league within 2/3 seasons imo
And there’s no reason they can’t win the smaller trophies first too. The failure of Ole has made us lower our expectations so much that it’s shocking. In some ways he’s done a worse job than Moyes in that respect

Moyes took over a side which had won a PL at a canter. Confidence was high, rebuilding wasn't such a big issue, midfield needed fixing and he decided to dither on signing Toni Kroos. Ended up signing Fellaini. You need to accept that your backing of Moyes was wrong and move on. Putting ole down does nothing for Moyes.
Moyes was a disappointment but the Kroos thing was down to LVG. Kroos did an interview the other week where he said he was due to sign for United in the summer of 2014 but lvg said no to the deal
Suspect the catalyst will be the game against Liverpool, if there was a game that could highlight how much two teams have diverged this will be it.

Our Robb (yet again) is completely hopeless when it comes to analysing all things football.
