Well I guess that depends on what on a no break clause means. Does it mean he can't be sacked, or just that he can't be sacked unless compensated.
I'm not versed in law, but the report I read seemed to point to the first.
Why would the Board be thinking about sacking him in the first place?
This is a man who came to within a point of Champions League qualification in his first season in the EPL.

It's a great thing that Emery's future at Arsenal is not decided by some idiotic posters on 606.

I allow him the 1st season but Waford game and subsequent games really put me off him. The only reason we are 3rd is because of how bad the rest apart from Liverpool are doing

I agree that our current league position is simply a result of how poor everyone else has been. We were only 2 points off the top of the table at this time last season.
But the Board is happy. The only thing they care for is 4th place. Emery could finish 4th for the next 7 years and they'd still keep renewing his contracts.

who said the board / new regime is happy with just 4th place after next season.
I doubt they spent that much on players to just finish 4th
I'll be very happy with 4th if we start playing better and be delighted with 3rd regardless but this year (a bit like last) should be an open goal
Everyone apart from Liverpool is having problems and if we don't take advantage of that they Emery isn't the guy

The board spent the better part of 2 decades crowing indignantly about our spotless record of qualifying for the CL, only to turn round and boot Wenger out within a year and a half of missing out on qualification for the first time.
We all know exactly where their ambitions end.
That's BS Gillespie. Top 4 this season is the aim, because of how far we are behind City and Liverpool, but they are more ambitious than that.

That would be good. Might have to sit another 5 years without a title or CL title, but it is a longer term project.
Hopefully we can do it before then, but City and Liverpool look like they will be strong for a period yet.

As long as we can challenge and don't get a battering in the CL when we get to it
Being 3rd means nothing at this stage. We are 1 point ahead of Palace and Leicester
We have never had a comfortable game in the Premiership this season, he is performing worse than last season.
From the outside looking in he's getting decent results whilst making massive changes to a squad that was not only very unbalanced but also lacking in quality.

Understandable.
We're only 8 games in. Half the Starting XI against Bournemouth weren't at the club last season. A third of the match-day squad weren't even playing in this league last season.
Emery might as well be managing a different club from this time last season.
There is no such thing as a "no break clause". Any contract can be changed, broken/violated. Just depends upon the consequences, in this case, could be a bundle of cash.

there's no reason to have 31 shots from a team that Man City beat 8-0 the week after
Great OP, managers can't be sacked... it never happens
Interesting that previously sources had indicated that its actually a 2 year contract with a club option for a third year. I don't see why Emery would be fired if we make the top 4 and I assume we will trigger the option. However it is obvious that Freddie is in demand and I assume he is willing to wait another season.
It will be interesting, however to see what is required of Emery after we qualify for the CL this season. I assume it would be challenging for the title. And any new contract will be predicated on how close we get.
