Don’t believe it.

Cons..

Being the Celtic of Seria A. One team league.

Cons:

Another new manager, another £300 million.

What happens if he had a bad first 6 months? Call for the sack again?

If it was as bad as it is now then perhaps. But that’s why you go for proven and successful managers. There’s less chance it will happen (not saying it won’t but we kind of asked for it by experimenting with someone as untested as Ole).

So in your view, what’s the minimum a manager must achieve in their first 6 months of the job for you not to call for them to be sacked?

To show some sort of tactical awareness

Not have a side two points ahead of the relegation zone with the relatively easy fixture list we’ve had so far

To have a track record that shows they know how to manage top players

Not play players out of position every week even when doing so is killing us

Okay:

- you’re not in a position to accurately judge whether Ole is tactically aware.

- points from the relegation is a misleading stat at this stage of the season.

- this would presumably have been a reason to sack Ole on day one of the job - ridiculous.

You’ve made this about why you want to sack Ole and not really about your expectations of a manager.

I think I can judge whether or not Ole is tactically aware based on what I’ve seen and I haven’t been impressed

I know you are his defender in chief but it would be no real surprise or great loss if he was sacked this week as the whole world can see he’s miles out of his depth

I don’t expect much at United. Just for the manager we have to be able to steer the ship and with him at the wheel we’re doomed.

I'd take him.in a heartbeat but didnt he recently say he was taking a year out?

They all say that but when a job like United comes along (even the current United) it’s hard to say no if you are currently jobless

Of course you think you can.

I’m not his defender in chief.

As I said, I was here to understand more about how you’d judge Allegri but all you’ve done is turn it into another Ole bashing thread, so I’ll leave you to it.

I have said how I’d judge him

You’re the one who thinks that nearly a year into a job you can’t judge someone. You’re alone on that so good luck with that. The rest of us will live in the real world and continue to judge what we see rather than wait for some trigger point when it’s safe to judge

He also said he'd retire in 2022 and manage the Italian team before he does

Which gives about 9 months for him to manage united... Enough time for robb to turn on him i suppose

Why would I turn on him? You either succeed or fail as a manager.

Possibly but on the off chance Pogba stays then perhaps he might benefit from someone like Allegri getting the best out of him

I doubt it.

No. Nothing against him or his record, but the style of play is important to me, which is also my gripe with Ole.
If we have to change, not yet I hope, I want à.manager renowned for attacking football. That would have negated Moyes, LvG and Jose.

Allegri isn’t stupid, he’s not going to come in to try and fix this mess mid season.

Anyone know the basis of these rumours, or where they started, who are the Twitter journos (I presume this is who's reporting it) quoting?

It will still be the same players, Ole is getting the max from them as it is.

I'll never forget something a Juventus fan said on here before Conte was appointed Chelsea manager cos it sums it up perfectly.... "Conte's the guy you get to build the house, Allegri's the guy you get to decorate it".

United's structure atm will severely handicap Allegri, he's a very good manager but he needs quality players to work with - if you don't provide them it's a useless move.

Pochettino to United & Allegri to Spurs is a far better sequence of events for both clubs and managers in question.

posted on 17/10/19

I don’t think Poch and Allegri ending up at United and Spurs is a good sequence of events for the managers.
