I’m liking the Athletic. Dunno how long it’s been around but it seems to be breaking all sorts of interesting stories behind the scenes. Especially the odd reasons we chose not to go for Felix and Fernandes
As Ed Woodward entered the boardroom at St James' Park before #mufc's 1-0 loss to Newcastle, Mike Ashley greeted Woodward by saying: “The most unpopular man in football meets the second most unpopular man in football." #mulive [the athletic]
———
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned on here but Andy Mitten finally secured a big interview with Woodward for the UWS magazine. It should be out on Sunday. Ed has been dodging him for the best part of six years over this.
Yeah, clubs need money coming in so they can spend it.

They have signed up some top journalists recently. I think it's worth the money if you're interested in other football articles away from United

He only signs the cheques.
Others identify the targets and negotiates wages and fees
I’m not saying Woodward didn’t do a good job at United before being promoted to Vice Chairman but do people think United wouldn’t have made similar money without him?
He took over the commercial and media operations in 2007, which was exactly the period where we saw a sharp improvement in our team as well as already being arguably the biggest footballing brand at this point. But obviously that wasn’t down to Woodward but Ferguson. Clearly Woodward took full advantage of our success on the pitch but would we not have done well without him?
I’m only saying this because I keep hearing we should demote him back to head of commercial and media operations which for me is nonsense. The man needs to be nowhere near this club in any capacity..

I cannot agree more
all ed has done is help the Glazers milk the success SAF had built.
That fat cow that is utd is no longer looking as fat or juicy since it has been starved of onfield success. It took me a while but I am now realise the glazers/ed don't care if the cow is well fed or not as long as it is producing milk. And when that stops, it is off to the slaughter house

He makes executive decisions on which cheques to sign - which transfers should proceed and which shouldn’t, and which contracts are renewed and which aren’t.

I have already done so for you on more than one occasion under at least one of your previous usernames and have also told you on more than one occasion under at least one of your previous usernames that I won’t be doing so again.
So predictable; so tedious.
So I take it you have seen Ole stating he (not Ed) has the final say as you incorrectly stated was the case

How is that not evidence of the manager, not ed having the final say on players????
