Horrific injury, don’t think son’s challenge was particularly harsh, aurier’s looked worse
Once again, attention should turn to Martin Atkinson and the other officials who didn’t give the clear penalty and sent off Son purely because they were squeamish and not because of the actual foul.
Really wasn't a horrific tackle
Get well soon Gomes
Was nothing more than a yellow and the ref agreed clearly... poor that he changed his card choice.
Best wishes to the player. Horrible to watch.
Dreadful injury and I wish the lad a full and speedy recovery but you can't send someone off purely because someone got injured.
Sons foul was undoubtedly cynical but the lad unfortunately got studs planted in the ground as he landed.
It Son knew what he was doing but it's not dissimilar to what we see every week. Take the foul and the yellow.
Just an unfortunate incident all round.
I do feel for Atkinson on this particular incident. VAR didn't want to get involved and no ref at Goodison does anything different imo.
The red will be rescinded I reckon.
I don't know what's worse, diving for penalties or snapping another players legs like this. Sandy, do you think you can confirm this for me please?

Not nice joking about a player with a broken leg. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Who's joking? The comments aimed at you, not that poor lads broken ankle caused by one of your players. If Son hadn't have fouled him like that he wouldn't have injured himself. No malice was intended I'm sure, but the action caused a reaction. Point is you go on about Liverpool's discipline and call us divers, but we practically win the fair play award every year, so this myth of us being cheaters is nonsense.

Guessing you didn't see salah diving or Suarez biting?
Scousers - always the victim 🤦🏽♂️
Aurier did the damage with a very reckless tackle. Sons tackle was poor, and he deserves no sympathy.

The red will be rescinded I reckon.

It shouldn’t be. Although the tackle in itself doesn’t look bad, it’s no different to following through with say studs up. The tackle is good it’s the follow through.
In this case the tackle wasn’t good, and made no real attempt to get the ball, and Gomez planted his foot due to this and broke his ankle.
No son stupid tackle = no injury.

But literally every tackle *could* lead to a freak injury
A clean tackle could lead to a serious injury so what should happen then?
The refs organisation and PL are embarrassing.
It was a bad tackle, from behind, with no chance of winning the ball. Even without the broken leg it could easily be justified as red.

Could do, but doesn't. And that's not remotely true. Son has lunged in and the chances of him getting the ball are slim, gomes also cannot prepare in the slightest as its from behind.
