perfectly summed up.
But to be fair even a 'scruffy' defeat, preferably with a clean sheet was the objective for the day, we achieved this, but to be fair can't claim much more than that.
Compared to the Brighton V Leeds match last night, this was pretty poor, however, should be pressure off for a couple of days at least.
What formation were we playing. I missed it cos I was working at the Ricoh. They were playing Reading. Dross served up there had me thinking 'there is no way we are as bad as this lot', Listening to what you have to say though..........
Totally agree. We were lucky that Watford aren't the team they were last season. If we're going to play 5 at the back and 3 redundant midfielders and two lazy strikers each week we'll lose the majority of our games. It was awful to watch but I guess McClaren will say he wanted a win and a clean sheet and he got that. There is no way we can play like that at home.
On reflection, lethargic performances from Miller and Findley made life harder for us. The ball kept coming back. McGugan didn't really get into the game either. Not sure how much of this was due to the way McLaren set the team up to keep a clean sheet.
it was a good away performance in my opinion. Defended well, which was good to see, and took the chance when it came. I don't expect us to play like Barca, but expect us to battle out wins away from home, just like we did. We haven't been crash hot away from home for the last 2 seasons if you all cast your minds back?
I agree Hoons! I would take away wins like that all season, don't care about neutrals being entertained for TV games.
In the last couple of seasons we have only had a few real stand out away wins and only because they came against teams that we would have been happy to earn a point against, like Cardiff and WBA.
