Just how good is Brendan Rodgers?

Are the pundits really putting it all down to the manager? Leicester players have been lauded by all and sundry for a while now, many are actually overrated. Rodgers has done a good job, but you have got good players as well.

Out of interest, which ones do you think have been overrated from an outsiders perspective?

I’d go Chilwell and maybe Maddison a little bit. Before that probably Maguire as well. Some of the others, however, are only getting recognised now.

Personally I’d prefer all the attention to be on the manager though.

Re Brendan, too early too tell for sure, let's see where we are at the end of the season, brilliant start though and seems to have moved us well away from the dreadful Puelball.

Yeah those three, Joby. A lot of hype over Tielemans as well.

I agree with the sentiments you’ve mare, to be fair. Just disagreed about how a lot of the players are viewed.

He is as good as he thinks he is, which was previously a point of derision for other fans.

Now I want BR to save us
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you think he would save you though? Do you think fixing Arsenal is a simple matter of appointing Rodgers?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True, I would probably take about 7 of your starting 11 over ours, but still. Also having an identity and positive playing style would go a long way to appeasing our fans

I wasn’t really thinking players, but more philosophy and identity. Arsenal had a clear plan with Wenger. He was an innovator and built great teams. Ok, he may have stayed too long and tarnished his legacy, but I’m not sure that Arsenal have quite rediscovered themselves just yet - although I don’t know all the details like you would.

If you look at Liverpool and Man City then both teams have been built around a clear identity and playing style: high press and intensity for Liverpool and Pep’s Barcelona model at Man City. Could BR do that at Arsenal and would he be given the leeway and resources to do it? I don’t know the answer - just putting it out there.

So sick of reading vitriol from bitter Celtic fans, it was obvious they were going to be all over this like a rash. Lennon wasn't even good enough for Bolton, obviously now found his level beyond the wall. One massive difference between us and Celtic is we actually have quality players who are able to play the style of football Brendan wants to play, they didn't.

We keep possession, knock it around at the back, draw players out of position and cut through them when the opportunity is there. It's patient, controlled and incisive and Celtic's players simply didn't posses the ability to do that. The difference in class between us and them is massive. I also suspect Leicester will fair much better in Europe next season than he ever did with Celtic because we're a lot better than Celtic.

As for how good is he? I think it's the perfect fit for him and our players because our players are suited to the style of play he wants, that might not be the case at another club like Arsenal for example where the players aren't so willing to put in a shift. I think we average the fourth highest possession in the league and have the highest number of tackles in the whole of Europe. That is a clear indication of how quickly we win the ball back and how hard we work off the ball.

The structure at the club is obviously top class though and we are extremely well run. The recruitment team are brilliant and continue to unearth gems, yes we had a sticky panic buy phase when we qualified for the CL but other than those few iffy windows it's been absolutely superb. That coupled with the added investment in our academy which is also bearing fruit.

This is a team and a squad, with a few additions, that could well challenge for the league again next season, if not this one should things go a little sideways for Liverpool at some stage, not likely I know but also not impossible either. This side just needs nurturing and a few more quality additions. He will be backed financially and I'm sure he will be excited about the prospects of a serious title challenge next season and Champions League football.

I'm not at all worried about his head being turned by any club right now because the reality is we have far more chance of winning the league before the likes of Spurs, United or Arsenal who are all a country mile away and require full rebuilds.

Brendan also doesn't come out with the David Brent comments he became famous for in the past now either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Aha hahahahaha.

I haven’t read anything as amusing as this for quite some time.

What a phannie
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Celtic are rubbish, your best player can't even get into a poor Arsenal defence and Benkovic can't get anywhere near our bench, just highlights the difference in class between the two clubs.

Rodgers won everything there and you're moaning like little girls because he left your tinpot club for a proper one in a proper league. That's why you're all bitter and twisted about it so to make out that Rodgers isn't a good manager based on your emotions is just embarrassing, you're like little school girls.

Lennon is a rubbish manager who couldn't cut it at Bolton in the Championship, to even have the audacity to compare him to Rodgers is ridiculous. A few wins in Europe doesn't make him a better manager and you're absolutely clueless if you think otherwise.

One final note, I hate Celtic, horrible club with horrible fans who follow a religion riddled with paedophiles.

You could well be right. We should be working towards a system of buying young and exciting players, keeping that continuity from the board room up but able to bring someone like BR in as a coach for a few years and keep us playing attractive football.

While it's great to aim for City and Liverpool levels, at the moment we're going backwards and I'd just like to see us move forwards again.

Hahahaha you clown, that was just media rubbish and gullible idiots like you fall for it.

We never wanted Tierney because we already have a better left back, we don't need Ajer because we already have two better centre halves and the better of the two Celtic centre back pairing who can't even make the bench and what on earth would we need McGregor for when we signed Tielemans for £40m and Praet for £18m?

Our recruitment team comprises of staff who have been here for many years, Congeleton is just the figure head. What an absolute muppet you are 😂

Righto, keep convincing yourself that a club who has players of the quality of Maddison and Tielemans in midfield would want McGregor. You're as deluded as the Spurs fans.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no sycophantic bubble, I don't heap all the praise for our current position on Rodgers, as others have alluded to we have a top quality team with some outstanding players.

Puel was the one who evolved us into a possession based team, the biggest problem he had was he could only choose from defensive midfielders because that's all he had. We signed Tielemans pretty much because of him and a few weeks later he was gone. Tielemans in my opinion is the player we needed, the one who links defence and attack and enables us to get the ball forward quicker and keep possession better. Ndidi and Mendy were great at breaking up play but they didn't have the ability to play the forward pass and as a result we didn't have an attacking threat because Vardy was left isolated. So contrary to reports, Rodgers didn't evolve us from a counter attacking team to a possession based, that was Puel.

Rodgers will certainly have better players to choose from at Leicester and a far bigger budget. He's still a young manager and is still learning but it's plain for anyone with half a brain to see that he is learning from his mistakes, none more so than not picking two CDM's anymore and playing Maddison out wide. He recognised that didn't work and we haven't seen it since the United game. A sign of maturity.

You don't want to give him any credit and are praying for his downfall because you're a bitter little schoolgirl.
