Can only do what we can do with the players we have.
Torreira actually being played in his best position (as a defensive midifelder) with Guendouzi near by is about as good as protection as we can give the back four.
The point will be to focus on playing good attacking football anyway, not inviting pressure on like Emery did so the defence should be under less pressure anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough.
But I'll still cling to my faint hope of Chambers getting a trial spell at DM. I thought he looked very promising during his long spell in the Fulham midfield.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd be happy for that to be tried and tested with Luiz playing CB alongside Holding.

Spot on with your first line up.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The 2nd is what I would use if we want to relinquish some control of the midfield because we are chasing a game / need goals, since Willock is more box-to-box than Torreira or Ceballos, in a way he can do both of their jobs to an extent, especially becase he's very good at carrying the ball at his feet out of deep midfield into attacking areas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of your lineups address the fact that the opposition could run the entire length of the pitch before anyone other than a panicking CB laid a glove on them.
Torreira, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Willock.......pretty much every midfielder we have, are all paperweights.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which Torreira were you watching last season? Because the last thing you could/can call him is a paperweight. Pretty sure he was second to only Kante last season on DM stat list. Dude is hard as nails pretty much Coquelin but with much better close control and greater passing ability and better understanding of Def-ATT transition. He has everything you NEED in a DM. They don't have to be Fernandinho tall or Kante hench. We'd be nuts to do anything other than make that DM position Torriera's permenantly and let him mature right there. Could become a very expensive little man indeed, if handled/used correctly.

Guendouzi has been our best midfielder this season, not sure how you could drop him.
No offence but your midfield looks very brittle and light-weight, all small technical players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I do realise that, I just don't want us to rely on him too much and break him, like we've done with players in the past.
Now that Emery is gone its time for more senior players to take responsibility.
Nothing wrong with being a bit brittle, it's 2019 and controlling a game is the most important thing, although I will concede we'd be weak on set pieces
Reckon a hair bear bunch midfield partnership is the way forward.

Won't work. Too difficult for commentators to tell them apart.

Surely another case of mistaken identity ala Gibbs/Chamberlain and Andrey Marinner sending off the wrong player is highly likely with these weird blokes who refuse to go to the hairdressers and like to have their hair flapping about on the same pitch. Also gives opponents something to tug on, can we get some: "Cut Your Hair Please' banners on show to replace the Emery out?
Leno
Bellerin - Chambers - Holding - Tierney
Luiz - Torreira
Ceballos - Willock - Saka
Martinelli
Sell the rest.
First thing he needs to do is get the players moving with intelligence off the ball.
Under Emery our players would look up and have no options.
Granted it's not something that can be taught overnight. It is certainly something any professional footballer already knows to some degree so waking our squad up to it is possible even within the very short term.

Poor team not top 4 material should keep Pépé at least sure he’s been poor but I willing to give him a season if he’s still this poor by Dec 2020-Jan 2021 then sure he should probably be sold

Could definitely win the Championship though?
Only 1 hair bear allowed. We really need to get Luis out of the side. There was one point in the saints game where Torriera was screaming at him pointing where he needed to go to pick up the runner. Idiot still went the wrong way and let the winger into a tonne of space. Poor Torriera had to clear off line pretty much. Sharper striker and we'd have conceded for sure.
At his age DL shouldnt even need telling where to go. Let alone be still getting it wrong when he's actively being shown. HE'S meant to be schooling Torriera not the baby teaching him. Deaddest of Deadweight there DJ. In fact I'm still trying to figure out if he's in on Frank's “I'ma sabotage the Gunners” scheme, so trying to be bad. Or is it just that he's crap and only Frank and I know it was a stitch up
