Doesn’t the kop back onto a busy main road? To build a bigger kop the stand would have to go back further so meaning the road would be in the way.

Only been once so could be wrong though

Walton breck I think. theres a bit of space but not a lot. can do wonders with modern designs and contruction tho. you never know but unlikely

Ours is pretty modern and the foot space it takes up is absolutely huge.

Any looks decent how your going. Chuck in a screen would be nice

Re:Annie Rd extension

I can confirm the extension started around my mid thirties and looks like getting bigger as I head towards my forties

Been waiting 29 years for Liverpool to win PL title so I could support them, figured it is never going to happen so...

with the proposed expansion due to take the capacity to over 60,000, and given that these days most match day fans arent from the local area, how are LFC going to address the chronic choke up of traffic that happens from anfield through queens drive and all the way to the flyover and the m62 turnoff ?

back in the 80s, even my grandparents house on holbeck street (off priory road) was free of match day parkers

you have to look at what is there now in terms of the gap between rows and such. There really is no room for expansion.

you also need to look at the angle of road to the kop as well.

the reality is if you walk along the path on the public road you will walk under the kop on one end.

you have the club shop, the Albert and then what is really just plain people access in and around the area.

The reality is the kop is what it is. if you literally raise the roof you will probably lose the atmosphere, need to be careful there.

also the kop will still hold more than the centenary/sir Kenny stand. There's more than a 1000 more on the kop.

finally the plans of Anfield road end are said to be very similar to the preliminary outline in height and depth. So yes the Anfield road section behind the stand will be closed. one of the big costs is moving all the services underneath the road

My family was the McGrath's. A large family but sadly my Mother was the last of that generation, she died back in September. I suspect my memories of the area were from a bit earlier than yours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My wife's mother's side were all McGrath's.
Most of them stayed in Ireland but a few, including the mother in law made the trip across the sea

My family on my mother's side were McGrath, but Manchester ones. But we did have relatives in Southport.

my memories of anfield , going there for weekends at my grandparents, xmas day , going to the match with my granddad and uncles (all everton fans), are from the late 70s to early 90s

the last xmas we had at holbeck street was 1990

my grandparents both died in the years after that, and i havent much reason to go back there since (other than the occasional time i go to a match there)

I have alot of nostalgia and childhood memories from that part of Liverpool...alot of family history too

Wow me too. I had two uncles one was a season ticket holder at Everton the other at Liverpool. They were both mates of Joe Fagan who lived around the corner on Lynhome Road. My mother was an Everton fan and so is my older brother who was born in Liverpool, Will have to swap stories some time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
my granddad knew Joe fagan too !

I vividly remember walking down Lynhome with my granddad in the mid 80s, just after Fagan had retired, and there he was was outside his house...

my granddad had a little chat with him
