I've read most of the comments on here. All I will say is that my son and his family live in Finland. They have a socialist government, sure they pay high taxes, but at least there you can see what they get for your money, subsidised child-care, a world-class education system (see PISA results) , fabulous and utterly fantastic uber modern and an integrated metro, tram, buses and rail public transport system, public sports facilities that only private schools/professional clubs would have over here. They too have a population of just over 5 million, but no foodbanks and no child poverty and no nuclear weapons despite the fact their neighbours are the Daily Mail Bogeyman - Russia. They also have a new 34 year old female with children from a working class background as their Prime Minister*, rather than a bloated, private-schooled, entitled, racist sexist, coward of a liar who will hide in a fridge rather than put himself up for real scrutiny.

Once you ignore the billionaire-owned, right-wing UK media then you realise that this is what the UK should've/could've been. The Nordic countries are an example of what socialism can deliver for everybody.

So from where I am standing, for a fairer society vote SNP in Scotland, Labour in England and TBH vote for a NI/Wales I don't know, so vote what you want - but just make sure you are voting for a better future for your children.

And all of us older c(o)unts who have benefited from the NHS/free education/grants to go to Uni: we are not self-made men - our governments and our country back then supported us to make a success of our lives! But you don't pull the ladder up, you make sure that the kids nowadays have, at least, the same opportunities and support you had - and if they haven't - which they haven't - then that needs to be addressed. So don't vote Tory because the entitled Tories never did anything to improve the lives of working-class people but were quite happy to use them them as cannon-fodder of course in their Empire wars.

To improve things, vote the person most likely to beat them. On your conscience - don't vote Tory.

**This is a reasonably serious contribution to Bluebell's OP, so, please, no tiresome, repetitive, predictable sexist posts.

"In the normal way, when a government has to meet a historic injustice, often when it loses in the court, we will have to identify that funding either from what headroom we will inherit or we will borrow - and I don't shy away from that," he told the BBC's Andrew Marr programme.

There's £58bn he has to find (note it will be borrowing).

“It needs funding, it is very big numbers, so we are talking £30bn to £40bn and if you are giving it away over an eight year time frame it is another £30bn or £40bn. You are not short of £100bn.”

From the mouth of Philip Jansen. So the £20bn is utter dugshite.

There's £138bn he has to find (and this is just the start of the pink unicorn figures) from where?

Do you not see that this is absolute cack?

The rich will depart (including those who run the UK) and companies will fall apart and go under.

This Marxist/Socialist 'Utopia' really does not exist - certainly in this day and age

Have a look at Venezuela for reference - this is what you are facing.

So, this 'supposed' lesson in economics (but actually a Tory website answering questions I never asked)is coming from a Tory Party apologist spouting the same old keech: that their inherited a £.5t debt, has over the past nine years of supposed 'austerity', has caused thousands of lives: but, over the same period, the Tories have actually manged to INCREASE that debt from £.5t to £1.78 Trillion whilst giving tax cuts to the better -off.
The figures are a matter of record

And we are supposed to believe that these c(o)unts have our best interests at heart?

Vote Socialist, or at least don't vote Tory, be like the Nordic countries and give all of our kids the same chance we had.

Good chances for everyone - even DC 1972's children/grandchildren.

None of us achieved zip by ourselves. We all had a helping hand - so don't deny it to the kids nowadays. Just give them the same opportunities we had.

And to do that - don't vote Tory.

I hate asking this as I have a lot of Scottish friends, some of them very close pals. But it seems to me some or even a lot of Scottish folk think when they have a few bob they are above everyone else.. they also like to shout about it.. I am curious to it as I do not find similar with Irish or English friends.

It sometimes appears that borrowing is only bad if it is to help the less well off.
We borrowed for the banks no problem, we borrowed to cut taxes for high earners no problem.
just sayin

Dead right Zach. Borrowing is fine however, most countries borrow to improve their infrastructure - but over the last nine years our Tory governments have borrowed to pay for tax rebates for the better off, whilst all the time decimating public services and then complaining about them. The old salami tactics.

Yep. A shed load of Scots will tell you they are 'self-made men' but they're not. They came from nothing, prospered mainly because of social improvement policies that gave them a chance: but they now think they did it all on their own. Bless.
And these misguided c(0)unts will vote Tory and encourage others to do likewise in the mistaken belief - that it was all down to them and their inherent ability. <vomit>
