I’m not overly happy at all to be honest.
We’d hit a wall with Poch but I think Sean Dyche could’ve come in and got the results José has got against the teams we ‘should’ be beating. I don’t like the way he’s setting us up to play - 6 defenders 4 attackers, and the performances against Utd & Chelsea were abysmal, with the performance against Wolves and first half against Brighton being nearly as bad.
But the bigger worry for me is I no longer see a long term plan at Spurs. Everyone is just happy that we might cling onto top 4 - but we’ve just had four years of CL football so all we’re hoping now is that Jose can get us back to where Poch had us 12 months ago. That’s not progress, that’s recovery. Jose won’t be around long enough to deliver long term progress, so psychologically I am already thinking further ahead to who our next coach will be and whether Levy will get that right. Genuinely not excited about Spurs right now - the quality of football or the medium term future.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry Ace, but are you seriously comparing Sean Dyche to Mourinho, he just lost 5-0 to a Mourinho team barely a couple of weeks back.
Stand in the shadow of a bald facker who isn't going to lift a finger to help his club get top 4.

This. Although I will add that with Mourinho people should be hoping to get to the previous levels of Poch but with some trophies along the way, so where we've got to finals or semis with Poch before, they should be converted into trophies with Mourinho (if he is indeed the Mourinho that people still gush about).
Although results have generally improved the performances against Utd and Chelsea were diabolical and it wouldn't shock me one bit if we lost tomorrow.
Poch had to go as the players had clearly downed tools for him but the jury is still very much out on whether Jose was the right replacement or not. His love for Dier is very odd?

Sean Dyche got Burnley into Europe, he’s a good manager. But I wasn’t specifically comparing him to Jose, I was just using him as an example that any half decent PL coach could’ve stopped the rot. I’m not interested in short term fixes to try and keep shareholders happy - I’m interested in the long term success of the club. I don’t have anything against Jose I just don’t see him as a great fit, stylistically or legacy wise.

When you say long term what do you want to achieve ? We had long term under Poch and whilst we made big progress in terms of CL and progression as a club, we still won f** all and still remain big time bottlers in the crucial games. Pochettino never really changed that mentality. If Mourinho comes in short term and delivers silverware the club desperately needs in preparation for the next manager, then what’s the issue mate ? Facts are, we are getting results now. Is the football great ? No, but we were 10x worse under Pochettino this season. People really have short memories on here, completely forgetting the awful displays getting trounced 3-0 by Brighton and 7-2 Bayern. People are almost saying Mourinho has come in and suddenly Spurs are playing bad football we have been playing s** for over a year now and that was down to mainly Pochettino’s last year at the club.

Well he didn`t really. Mourinho won a domestic cup and a European Trophy, so what has Ole done that is an improvement on that, they are still sitting something like 7th in the table. I don`t really see an improvement.

When you say long term what do you want to achieve ?
————-
I want us to play good football and be in the CL every, or at least most seasons. I want us to start the season believing that are capable of making a title challenge, even if we are 4th or 5th favourites. I want us to win the occasional domestic cup, ad I want us to bring young players through and scout good young players.
No we had all that a couple of years ago, but instead of building on it we sold one of our best players to a rival and allowed other players contracts to run down, then sacked the manager that took us there. The only difference between us a few years ago and what I’ve listed above was getting over the line in the FA or League Cup, otherwise we were doing great and punching way above our weight. The level of investment from the club isn’t gonna change, which means any manager will have to keep us punching above our weight and I don’t see Jose as a ‘punch above your weight’ type.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That is all very good mate, but you still haven`t mentioned any managers that could have come in and done a better job that were available.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sean Dyche got Burnley into Europe, he’s a good manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So who would be these half decent managers you would have preferred over Mourinho. Not like there is loads of managers up for grabs.

People are almost saying Mourinho has come in and suddenly Spurs are playing bad footballwe have been playing s** for over a year now and that was down to mainly Pochettino’s last year at the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You forgot to say a team of Internationals also lost to Colchester, Don. Not really sure what our supporters want? And why they would be moaning about a manager that has brought Spurs to being on the brink of getting back into the top four again.

Ole drastically improved Man United after Mourinho left and you wouldn't say Ole is comparable to Jose either, would you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well he didn`t really. Mourinho won a domestic cup and a European Trophy, so what has Ole done that is an improvement on that, they are still sitting something like 7th in the table. I don`t really see an improvement.

————-
I want us to play good football and be in the CL every, or at least most seasons.

Sorry Sandy but when you were demanding Pochs head you said the exact opposite - that it’s one of the best jobs in world football and we’d be inundated with applications from top coaches. You said that literally dozens of times.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well we got one of the best Mourinho. But it is you Ace that is not coming up with any other names. I am happy with Mourinho, you clearly are not. So you need to come up with names mate.
