The sports scientists at Liverpool and city have been saying this for seasons now yet we get laughed at because players earn a lot apparently.

The fixture list is a joke

Last season when Ajax got to the semis of the CL their league gave them a week off. When we got to the world club final they made us play it 24 hours after the ELCup game.

It takes at least 2/3 days to recover from a premiership level game and then they need to train again. Playing this many games in one month really doesn’t make sense. Yes our clubs receive more TV Money than most but Barca earner the most last season yet got a break at Xmas.

I live Xmas footy but why not have a break in January??

Fair point.

Our footy is down for 2 weeks in January. No footy over christmas and new year at all. Players are with their family.

I love the festive fixtures list but it does get ridiculous when you’ve got games 48 hours apart. It’s not physically possible to recover in that time period and takes its toll on players, the games are often drab affairs.

Keep Boxing Day and New Year’s Day fixtures but move the games in between to earlier/later in the season.

Scrap the league cup or make it an u23’s competition.

I am absolutely fine with the schedule.

It's an entertainment business and they're paid an absolute fortune.

Clubs have the resources to rotate their players if they have invested the huge TV money they receive.

Will never happen. BT and Sky make too much money.

Most clubs in the Prem have squads between 20-25 players, if not more. Managers need to rotate and make full use of their squads.

Rotating players means fielding a weaker squad, could cost points

Yep. But it's the same for everyone.

Not sure why any team should have a god given right to field their strongest team for every single match if it's at the expense of entertaining the people who pay (a lot) for it.

Clubs have weeks and months to plan for this congestion.

They have large expensively assembled squads

Suck it up! Its part of the unique challenge of the EPL.

As for Kane, he's a fool for almost making it impossioble to drop him because he wants to player every game.

If he hasnt scored then he wants to score, if he has 1 he wants 2, if he as 2 he wants a hattrick....never subbed, rarely rested....hamstring injury a classic fatigue injury. I love him but he's his own worst enemy at times.

It is how it is. Love the festive fixtures and with Amazon and BT showing all the programme live it has been a pleasure.

So you have to change your whole first team if a games is played 48 hours after the last one. That really doesn't make sense. Play different gamers on different days so that there are games on Tv every day just make sure teams don't play unless it is 3 days apart at a minimum.

Players are like athletes these days and the sports scientists have aid they need at least 48 hours rest between games.

Just because you like it the quality goes out the window as well. That game last night was a shambles, Our game against Wolves was low quality as well as players from both teams looked shattered.

Just because I like it?

Er, no.

Okay then, let's survey everyone with a season ticket and/or a TV subscription and ask them. If the majority want to keep it then it stays - fair?

Of course there's an argument against it and you're entitled to your opinion, but my view is that it's fine and the vast sums of money the clubs have should enable them to handle this situation.

Kane's injury is down to the fact we have no back up striker because Levy and Poch refused to either buy one or trust in Parrott. Kane has looked shattered at the end of most games.

No wonder his hammy is facked

Its been part of our game for a 100 years. So tough luck.

Speaking as someone who just had to work a 16 hour shift on new year's for not much over minimum wage, I don't care how much the players are paid. They're human beings and having to play on boxing day, and thus training and travelling on Christmas day is practically barbaric. At the time of year we're supposedly about love, generosity and family we demand the most gruelling work from anyone we consider to be there for our entertainment. Whether that be a premier league footballer or the poor sap unable to call last orders on Christmas eve. It's hypocritical and cruel.
