Add £30mn to any player's value that is linked to United.
I think United would ruin him
I think he’s good player, I was impressed with him in the opening game against Liverpool when he played LW and every time you see him, he seems more and more comfortable at PL level (though admittedly, that’s mainly based on highlights), especially know he’s playing more centrally.
What’s frustrated me about our recruitment policy is how slow on the uptake, basic and unimaginative we’ve been over the past 7-8 years.
Maddison was being talked about as a PL player when he was at Norwich, Grealish showed potential in the PL with Villa when he was 20-21. But naturally, we don’t go in for them (you would assume) and only start being linked with them once they’re at the top, not on their way to the top
It’s much harder to prise these players away once they’ve earning big money and have a huge transfer fee on their heads.
I know our former head of recruitment has blamed Woodward directly for this, just another issue with having a non-football minded person in charge of (or partly in charge) of the players we bring in...or fail to, in this case.
Looks ok but nothing special. Wouldn't be going for him that's for sure. Nor would I go for Grealish. Yes he looks a decent player but I just think that is all he will be. A decent player for a lower table side. For me Grealish holds onto the ball too long which would break down so many attacks in my view. He spends more time on the floor than on his feet. Think he will stay at Villa depending on whether they stay up. I actually believe McGinn would be a better signing.
Maddison is one I certainly would like but would cost a fortune. With our huge amount of scouts they must be able to find one or two gems outside of this bloody island. We are allowed to buy non british players. I know its only reports but saw we are heavily linked with Sean Longstaff again, I mean who even thinks that would be a good idea?

We could at least buy the other one to stop him scoring against us
Agree completely about the foreign thing. I love seeing a British core at United but we’d get absolutely stung for Maddison, or Grealish. I fail to believe that in all of Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe (even if we ignore South America), there aren’t two players who can improve us in midfield and attack and who won’t cost the earth.
Very promising young talent, would not be against this signing.
One caveat, I am all for promising talent but the team, squad even is crying out for experience and leaders.
Absolute no to Sean longstaff!
Depends on the fee, but would rather a player who is a bit older and more experienced. We are crying out for another attacking midfield player.
Maddison or Grealish I hope
He a very good finisher. Rarely misses the target if getting a good chance on goal. But he needs to do a lot to his game. Passing, off the ball working, tracking back....

Incredible isn't it?
I was hoping we could find a defender from Europe instead of squandering £80m on Maguire.
Other teams can unearth these talents, while we struggle.
I like the look of him as well...
Jarrod Bowen is another player United could look at but will ignore, while Leicester will more than likely sign him for relatively nothing and in a season or two will be touted about for obscene amounts.
He's just been linked with us in the press, OP.
and as Arroin mentioned, Jarrod Bowen has been doing very well for about a season and a half at PL and plays on the right side, I believe.
There are players out there but as a few have mentioned we do need good experienced players. Ours are either past it or we're never top players to begin with. Without experience and the right players to make up what we're missing, we'll keep being inconsistent.
I don't know that much about him to be honest. Much of these transfer talks are all just click bait anyway. The Longstaff one reeks of that, especially as he's not even the best Longstaff (how many times have we read that in the past 24 hours).
What we really need in this window is a real creative spark, and midfielder who can put his foot on the ball and find that creative player or the forwards. That would be a fantastic window, though I won't hold my breath
