The spine of our team is awful

Agreed, i would expect those areas to be the focus in the summer.

Don't think you are too far away from being a top 4 challenger though. You've had no luck at full back this season either with the injuries.

Finally fans are starting to realise that the core of the problem is the MF.

Santi got injured in what 2016. Him and Coq combination was the last decent MF we had. Since his injury, the MF has become championship level

Özil is work-shy and sulky.
Xhaka is rash (although he has improved recently).
Guendouzi is a headless chicken.
Torreira is small, weak and easily bullied.

We don't have a single genuinely good - let alone world class - central midfielder in our team. This results in a loss of changes created going forward, and an abundance of chances given up to the opposition which puts our defence under pressure.

By contrast, look at Leicester (just the first example I thought of). Tielemans, Ndidi, Albrighton, Maddison, Praet. I'd snap your hand off for that and come back for the rest of your arm.

I definitely believe our midfield is as much of a problem as our CBs. I wouldn't say torreria/xhaka is championship level but they are certainly not top 6 level. Slow on releasing the ball offensively, slow in tracking back and slow in their decision making. All I ever see them do is pass it sideways or back to the defense. They just don't have the quality to make a key pass.
Bring zero to the team

I do believe arteta is a qualtiy manager and needs massive backing from the board for players of quality.

I feel he is getting the best out of the players he has but they just aren't good enough for a club like us.

what makes you think he's a quality manager ??? Hasn't he managed to draw 5 of his first 7 games, worst start in club history. I'm not saying he wont be good but he's basically a coach who's managed a handful of games. He's no improvement on Ljundberg

Torreira is a forward thinking DM so people are wrong there. He's not going sideways or back because it's his first choice. It's because Ozil is rarely hauling ass to present a a forward option. If he's marked, he doesn't really work to get free to present. That's why our attack has only flowed freely with him in the middle, when teams have failed to pick him up early on.

If the opposition overlooks him and gives him space, as with early yesterday and in the Chelsea game, we fly up the pitch because he's there for the CM and DM to past forward to, then release the FB or Winger. Marked he won't work to get free and present, leaving no central forward pass option. Then he'll eventually vacate the middle entirely. It's even more noticeable this season because Arteta has clearly instructed our CM and DM to sit deeper. Then has been told to find a pass, where he'd choose to run the ball up the pitch. I want to see them going forward too but they can't pass to a player who isn't there.

Oh and Guendouzi is a kid, he's meant to be a bit headless chicken at this stage in his career. Arteta will get some playing discipline instilled there I'm sure (already beginning the process) The boy is a definite keeper. You don't throw that kinda talent out the door this quickly, not when he's that young. Done way more than enough to warrant patience.

Moan,Whine,bleat...ffs get over it. Have you been in a different galaxy the past 10 years? It will take more than a month to fix our problems, and whining little children will not help one bit. Back the manager, back the team, give it time..THEN you can moan if it doesn't work, not one month in! ...pesky kids...

You've just contradicted yourself mate. You say that it's been like this for the past 10 years but yet still say give it time and moan if it doesn't work.

So what, the previous 10 years isn't long enough ti moan. Maybe wait anothet 20 years? 😂 jog on mate

Really do not understand the hate Guendouzi gets, I think the kid is fantastic. Things in his game need ironing out, but he is young and was a great buy.
