Let's hope he gets some game time, in order to prove himself one way or the other ….
I’m not sure he’s as good as we’re hoping.
It’s a gamble
Now had four clubs in 2 years, and his career is on a downward trend.
Can the lad turn that round, let’s hope so
Hell of a gamble and big pressure on him.
Wasted a fortune on Eddie for little playing time, hope this isn't Groundhog Day
At this point I’m Glad the club did something rather than nothing.
But, these are huge sums of money fir loanees and these ae huge commitments if we go up on top of our contingent liabilities. If we go up there are bonuses to be paid in addition to Costa and Augustin fees, that’s 50 mill you have to pay fir all that right there leaving little if anything to strengthen already thin squad with white, Harrison, meslier loans ending, trying to retain or replace costs more money again.

That's the key isn't it.
they had to do something, and whether it's FFP or lack of cash that points us in the direction of loans everytime, this is clearly the model the club is following. His wages aren't shocking for his club history. We paid more for kiko for 4 years. That's a lot more painful than a punt on this guy.
But punt it is. He clearly has talent and is still very young, but his career has stalled. There's a reason, known quantities with a history in English football were first choice.

What's your cost-effective alternative strategy for promotion?
Seeing as you thought we could get Bowen for less than £7m and he went for 20 I think I'll take some convincing, but have a go anyways.
It’s always going to be a gamble - whoever and whatever the board did in January. A purchase of £10m plus or expensive loanee.
Got to make the bench vs Forest at the very least. Have a funny feeling it will pay off. I still think despite the recent games we’ll get promoted.

I think that they knew they'd be hugely criticised if they did nothing hence talking about exercising the ghost of Dan James.
Massive gamble this one.
Definitely hope he hasn't come as a bench warmer.
I don't like having a go at PB per se, see no benefit in that, but I have come to realise that although he brings a lot of hard work to the team, his inconsistency, and wavering confidence is the reason he is in this league and didn't make it at PL level.
I think anyone better would have cost more particularly as our scouting set up does not seem capable of unearthing a 'Pukki' at the start of a season.
Agree, I'd never have a go at bamford, he has 12 so far this season and without those goals we wouldnt be anywhere near the top two.
However at the moment, if this lad is the real deal, I'd be looking to start him and then be using bamford as an option to help see games out.
Personally I think a fully fit bamford, coming off the bench against tired defenders would be a much better use of him as things stand.

In principle I agree. But my guess/hope is it'll be the reverse. Bamford starts with JKA coming off the bench. Either way i'd like to see the new guy getting a chance early on, let's see what he can do in this league.
Matty are you for real if Bamford took half his chances we'd be almost promoted by now.Hes got 12 goals and should have scored about 22 .For God sake don't talk such rubbish.
In games like Saturday where the opposition defend in numbers we really need a second striker to come on. Felt like Tyler was just playing in midfield and added no extra attacking purpose. A lot of teams will play like that against us as we dominate possession. Thats when 2 strikers are much more use and damaging

This is a joke right - you’d never have a go at bamford? Why not?
Bet like saying let’s not have a go at the keeper because he’s kept 12 clean sheets - flawed logic.
Anyone at the training ground last week for the 11 v 11 game would have realised why he wasn’t involved Saturday, hope he can adapt quickly,

Because having a go and/or abusing a player who's struggling with confidence or form is going to sort things? You're joking aren't you?

It's pretty clear when you hear Bielsa saying it will take time. Quality players would fit in straight away.

Meanwhile while Bamford is struggling with his
confidence or maybe you mean ego?
The club is probably on the cusp of one of its most
crucial seasons in its history since I was a snotty
nosed lad standing outside on the shale they now
call the Kop.
This is not the time for a prima donna striker and
ham actor to have a crisis with his confidence...we
need more goals and less ego!
I'm mystified by the loyalty to this striker and some of
the other players...a few have let the support down
before and could well repeat that this season.
We've been in this division for so long now the
club with so many owners, managers and players
don't recognise what's needed to get out of this
division...it's called ruthless ambition!
He's down to start for the u23's at 1pm. Should be live here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfnGeYaHAC4
Meslier, Hosannah, Casey, Strujik, Cresswell, Jenkins, Kamwa, Stevens, Huggins, McCarron, Augustin.
Subs: Caprile, Hudson, Shackleton, Poveda, Berardi
Miazek disappeared, looked decent last week.
The reality is that our trend in most games seems to be the same. Control, create, cannot finish.
That isn't all down to Bamford, who add a significant quality in our set up. Harrison, Costa and Klich also need to step up.
