utd and spurs looking shabby in there.

There has probably never been a better time than 2004 when Roman first came to us than now to spend big & well.
Hopefully Frank is retained & is here for the long haul, building our next dynasty., beginning by getting shot of the dead wood in summer, buying a high class attacking midfielder, (sadly Rubes won't be part of our long term plans I fear).

If it's to be believed Kepa might be on his way too, and we still need a second top striker as a minimum

Bit of a misleading article!

It’s not club profit, just profit from transfers in the last 2 windows.

So we’ll done on selling you’re best player and not being able to replace him due to a transfer ban!

I’d rather we spent some money in January

Can anyone actually explain why we even bothered going through so much trouble to get the ban lifted if we weren’t even going to sign anyone in January anyway?

Players which would’ve improve us weren’t available in Jan. No point buying players for the sake of buying.
Need to make use of Giroud and Bats to the end of the season now.

Pulisic is due back from injury after the break. Might even see RLC come back at some point this season, so it may not be as bad.

I don’t believe that. Dembele or Werner or Jovic would easily improve us and would have been available for the right price in January.

Neither were available, hence why they’re still at their respective clubs

Was Torres ‘available’ when we signed him January? What is ‘available’? Was Bruno available when united signed him this past month? Was bergwijn available when Tottenham signed him?

Our fanbase can be so confusing sometimes. Wahl's not alone in expressing disappoint at us not buying this window, on social media appears to be the consensus in fact, and I don't understand it?

For the last 2-3 years we've p!ssed and moaned at the club doing either poor or unnecessary short term business to the point where getting a transfer ban was seen as a blessing. Now, for a change, the club have held their nerve and not bought players for the sake of it and fans are still moaning? If we get top 4, which is still very conceivable looking at the state of play (i.e. looking at the competition, not just ourselves), this'll have been a shrewd call.

There does come a point where the board really can't win

Torres was desperate leave Pool at the time. Neither of these players you mentioned were prepared to that.
Yes Bruno was available, hence why he was let go by his club

Why are the only two options not sign anyone or sign bad players?

Does the third option of sign good players not exist?

Why have united identified and signed a player in Bruno who plays in the position they needed to strengthen the most in?

Why have Tottenham who needed a forward due to Kanes injury signed a forward yet we who also blatantly need a forward weren’t able to find a single one in the entire world who would improve us?

I just don’t buy this, I’m sorry. I can not believe that there is not a single player we could have bought in January using all this money we supposedly have that could have improves us. It’s just horseshiiiit to think that that’s true

He was ‘desperate’ to leave Liverpool because we were interested. In the same way Bruno was ‘desperate’ to leave because united were interested. And Van dijk was ‘desperate’ to leave Southampton when Liverpool were intereseted. And Coutinho was ‘desperate’ to leave Liverpool when Barcelona were interested.

We as the big club with money create desperation when we move for a player. If we don’t make moves then of course no ones desperate to move. Of course no one seems ‘available’

Bruno, Van dijk, Coutinho all January moves.

Spurs didn't buy a centre forward, bought a winger in Bergwijn.

Werner did not want to leave as Leipzig are title challengers this season and wants to see the season out.

Jovic also unavailable, he's backup to Benzema currently. If Benzema was to get injured that would have left Madrid with no one if Jovic left.

We tried to get Cavani & Dembele, unsuccessful.

What we need to take into account is we have 3 players who are able to leave for nothing in the Summer window Giroud, Pedro and Willian to replace these 3 will cost us £200 million at least. Admittedly 1 of them will probably sign a new contract, we will still have the left back position to still sort out as well.

The board can’t win? The board wins when they finally sign some furrrking good players that help us get back to the top, that’s when they furrrking win.

Actually can’t believe you said that. Like our board are doing the best job they can. They’ve royally furrrked up almost every transfer window since I don’t even know when. When was the last good transfer window we had?

2014. Costa and Fabregas. Not a single great transfer window since. Tells its story

Good players & good signings are too different things.

The only reason to have bought in this window would've been to strengthen our top 4 position, but if the quality of player isn't available to have that quick an impact on it either way that's no point. Case in point Higuain last year, he's a good player & on paper looked a good signing, but he wound up having little impact & we finished 3rd anyway from a weaker position in January we find ourselves in right now.

If a long term target was available, like Torres in 2011, I'm sure we'd have pounced now. Otherwise it's needless panic buying.
