Genuine question Sizz

There are some people who would claim that racism can only be an offence from white people, as they claim that historically white people have held the power.

Do you agree with that ?

The other day I walked past a couple of black students outside Leeds University. A Chinese girl was walking in the opposite direction and as she passed them they went into fake coughing fits and made a few jokes about the coronavirus.

As I walked past them one of them asked the other "that wasn't racist, was it?" The other one said "no, because it does come from there."

I thought to myself that was dangerous logic. If I made a joke about slaves to you you'd probably be offended. But they did come from the same place as your ancestors.

I don’t agree. Arabs were enslaving Africans 800 years before the Atlantic slave trade commenced. There have been numerous examples of European slaves; the Feudal peasants of England, serfs in Tsarist Russia, European captives of Barbary pirates etc

But that’s irrelevant. Do you agree with the assertion I provided in my previous quote?
