Says a Spurs fan...
I was surprised to see that given as a clear and obvious error.
A debatable decision and felt a bit like the VAR official re-reffing the game to me, which is not what it's supposed to be for.

I really don't agree.
I thought all the replay confirmed was that it was highly debatable.

No one, not even the player involved tried to claim it as a penalty.
The referee saw it as a fair challenge and the game should have continued.
VAR in that instance re-reffed the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bergwijn didn't get up screaming like a biiitch about it no, but he did give a look towards the ref as if to say he was fouled.
VAR did its job.

Spurtle (U1608)
One perspective is that he slid in a straight line and the player leaned into the challenge.
Very similar to the Aguero one that got given v us. In real time the ref thought he got the ball. When seen again he clearly didn't and it was a pen.
A rare case of var being consistent. Also, the player not appealing should have no bearing on a decision.

It's funny seeing Spurs fans cry about VAR when only one other club in world football has benefited from VAR more than them

I can see both views to be honest - I just don't agree it was a clear error by the referee.

PL football is dead to me.. what do you think?
I don’t think you should worry about it Maf. West Ham will only be in the PL for a few more months.
Villa fan here. Without VAR I can see why the ref waved it away. With VAR I'm afraid it was a dead cert penalty. Engels got his leg across and failed to make contact with the ball, got the player instead.
If VAR is going to rule on these things (which is debatable) then it got it right.

If Carlsberg made predictions Spurs would be winning the CL year after year....
Book yourself in for an eye test Maf, but you should be ore worried about the Scammers impending relegation
Relegation nailed on for West Ham.
