Difficult to know what team DM will put out. I'd rather see a settled side rather than second guessing the opposition. However I'll go with the bookies and say Rovers to win 2-0. Sadlier, Ennis, Anderson

Hope I'm wrong, going 2,1 defeat. Sadlier Whiteman.

I see Watters is out on loan. What is the point of having an academy to develop young players when none ever get a proper chance in the first team? McCann and now Moore may as well scrap it. Young players have zero prospects of a career with DRFC based on recent evidence.

2-1 win Ennis/sadler

2-0 win. Ennis, Whiteman

Another slightly strange starting line-up. I do not like it with neither Sadlier or Taylor there. I was confident of a win, but not so sure now, but will still say 2-1 to the Rovers with Ramsey getting the first. After last weeks effort by Sheaf, I was thinking of Whiteman, but he seems reluctant to shoot these days.

Ennis cole 26

Why drop Sadlier in favour of Cole who is demonstrably worse than he is. Taylor is a better footballer too, although not a front-man.

Moore does have some strange selection practices.

I'd be upset in their shoes.

It is halftime, and it is pathetic! Even Anderson is, for him, have a mediocre game. OK, once again the wind and rain are not helping, but why play in the air most of the time? Sheaf had the best chance but fired over from about 12 yards.

I await the normal excuses

I said in December he doesn't know how to pick a team, the new tinkerman. People said wait till he brings his own players in, I said he had more time to bring players in pre-season that McCann had, yet was told wait till January. Well it's been n gone, still tinkering, still doesnt know his best team. Top scorer, on bench, best attacking wideman, on bench. 5 loanees starting again.
Now should be the time to blood our youngsters not send them out on loan, start Amos at left back not a CB, but from what I've heard the lads from wolves have to play at least one game a week as part of their loan deals.

Whats worrying me is, look at the team that started today, how many will be here next season.
Goalkeeper.... no
Defence..... possibly 1, maybe 2
Midfield...... none
Attack....... Copps

Not good is it.

I was going to post my opinion after the game today.
Having just read through this thread I see that zigger had already written what I was going to say.

PS. I do know that Sadlier is seriously peed off at being left out of the team.
It is unlikely that he will sign a new contract with us.

Hound, if I was Sadlier I'd certainly be peed off, but I hope DM plays him and can do something to keep him - like offer more money and/or bonuses if he meets certain goals! Of the starters today I thought Joe Wright performed the best closely followed by Jacob Ramsey. The latter shows real class at times.
Of the rest, even Whiteman was below par with his passing and nearly gifted them a goal, and Andersons distribution was poor.
Of the loanees, only Ramsey really deserved his place on today's performance, although those up front did not get much good service.
I'm going to be away next weekend and was hoping to have good enough wi-fi to watch the game on my iPad, but I may not bother to take it!

Since my earlier post I have found out that Moore is leaving Sads out to make a point to him about not signing the offered contract.
To me, it is very poor management to spite a player to the detriment of the team.
With regards to Whiteman, I don’t think that over the last couple of months he has been anywhere near the level he was at in the first three months of the season.

Spot on hound.
As I have said many times....I can't wait for this season to end.
Next season DM can't offer any excuses.

Having just watched the Highlights and DM's comments, I'd like to say he is too positive after bad games. I know one does not want the manager to overly criticize players in public, but give me some truthful thoughts. Also, earlier in the season I thought who edited the hghlights did not show how good we could be, but today I thought it showed us much better than we were!
Hound, I really appreciate your insights from behind the scenes - as you say, very poor man management,
Basically, I've given up all hope of a play-off finish, but miracles can happen.
There are some things I would like to say, but it is for the better of this site and all of you, that I do not.

Sheaf has had some poor games and just as Gomez is growing into his role DM drops him. I don't remember Cole being mentioned as having done anything in the match, so why was he not at least subbed?

Why does he even bother to put Amos on the bench when he has no intention of ever giving home-grown players who are the same age as the PL loanees a chance? He has moved Watters out, probably for good, because no one has ever returned to first team football after a loan. None of them will ever get going properly without starting games and in a sense giving someone a few minutes at the end of a game will guarantee insufficient opportunity to prove themselves and provide an excuse to regard them as not ready yet. These are the club's own protegees so surely they have some entitlement to be given a fair chance, rather than suffering demotion in the pecking order?

I think it is time the club were challenged on this. As things stand the Academy is nothing more than window dressing and at worst a waste of money.

You could argue that our situation is a microcosm of the whole of English Football. Top Premier League clubs nurture British-born youngsters who are then loaned out to EFL clubs and rarely get a first team chance over the foreign imports. We send ours to non League. The whole system amounts to a gesture in the direction of our clubs seeming to fulfil an educational and development role to counter the suggestion that the primary source of talent is from other countries - which of course it is.

There may also be other factors at work to which Micky may be alluding to.

I see that the various junior Rovers teams continue to play well, progressing in their competitions yet no one, not a single individual is considered worthy of a first team start.

Danny Amos should start in place of Cameron John on Saturday.

posted on 25/2/20

Amos should start hound but, he'll play his players first. The thing what's getting at me is theres a heck of a lot of fans wondering if Moore knows what he's doing, yet some still keep saying give him time. How much time does he need, he had longer than McCann in preseason, turned January transfer window into a joke. He has brought in half a dozen loans, that aren't going to be here next season, plus we could lose 3 or 4 players. We could end up with just Copps left

posted on 25/2/20

I understand that Sads is very likely to be leaving.
Rumours around today that Whiteman might be going at the end of the season and I don’t think that Blair will fancy another season on the bench at his age.
Anderson will be attracting attention after the season he is having so a big money offer could tempt him away.
When the six loan players go back is won’t leave us with much will it.
