We need a keeper who takes ownership of his area DDG just doesn't do that.

Henderson for next season... But what to do about De Gea's 350k a week...

Prem De Gea gifted Everton a goal under no pressure.

3 mins into the game

Took an age to play the ball out from his box with Calvert Lewin closing him down and blocking his clearance with ball going in the net

Hafi / Roy’s Kean 👍

I’d like to say that I’m shocked to hear that, but I’m not nowadays.

There seems to be something up with DDG’s reliability for a long while now.

It’s like he’s sometimes just going through the motions.

Conte will take him off our hands. No messing about with loans though, needs to be a permanent deal

The worst thing about it is that he was under no pressure when he received the ball, he invited the pressure and then messed up, cost us 2 points today

Inter won’t pay top wages for DDG.

Certainly not in the £300k - £400k region.

And I can’t see DDG agreeing to a wage cut.

Maybe PSG are stupid enough to pay it.

Rather play Romero.

DDG is too soft, lacks aggression. Switches off too often. That is what I was saying during his debut season, this is what I've been thinking of late!

He is also in his comfort zone, probably explains why we are where we are. He's not alone in that regard.

Some of the pressure from Everton was down to unenforced errors by DDG. It happens far too often to ignore. Maybe it will be addressed during the summer, maybe it won't but it is frustrating to watch.

We're stuck with DDG, no one will pay his astronomical wages.

We need better competition in that area, bring Hendo back and let him compete with DDG for the #1 jersey.

Might be similar to Pogba, in that he wants out but I can’t see anyone stumping up 100m. Clubs fault in both cases for paying too much.

Romero is one of the best keepers we ever had statistically and De Gea since 18/19 season been near the worst.

posted on 1/3/20

Main reason we have a dreadful PL record is due to fact we are near least efficient side.

posted on 1/3/20

De Gea last season did howlers home and away to Arsenal and at home to Chelsea. Seems to not care these days. The fact both goals we conceded to Everton came from him this season is frustrating.

Agree - getting way too complacent with the more money he additionally is getting

He needs a kick in the behind to come up again to his past good senses

posted on 1/3/20

Thats the only big thing Solskjaer has done wrong since we beat PSG as in keeping De Gea in goal when Romero has shown to be on form whenever he plays.

Nothing to do with motivation, complacency, 'kick up the backside, etc., he's always been a poor keeper, he just happened to 'get away' with poor decision-making, poor positioning and poor control and it was inevitable that the laws of average meant 'getting away with it' would even out.

Recognised years ago that United CANNOT progress in terms of controlling games, playing exciting/creative football and sustained league success until he leaves.

He has always weakened good defenders, negatively impacts on team shape and dynamism, and forces the rest of the team to play deeper.

He is an average keeper that is/was eulogised for self created 'photographers saves'. Finding a solid, intelligent replacement is easier than the twerps out there think. Probably not Romero though, he's not that different.

IAMMe the amazing thing since SAF left is that he is a keeper near bottom of saves per game and some reason he has been praised in that time lol. He had 1 good season since SAF left and that was 17/18 season.

posted on 1/3/20

He messed up on the goal but otherwise was pretty good for the rest of the game. Romero is a a great back up keeper but he’s still a way off De Gea in terms of quality.

Not really interested in 'stats' per se - they reveal very little.

But simply by observing all the games, it is more often than the other way round that the performance of the opposition keeper are more notable. That is not down to 'chance' or the opposition 'raising their game' etc.

No player has made more errors leading to goals since the start of last season than De Gea. I was going to say it may not be a bad thing if he left on a free, didn't know he'd signed a six year contract!

Ive said before I'm not sure he's suited to the modern game mainly because he's not great with his feet and stays on his line. I think he's better when he's busier too but he's kept plenty of clean sheets lately.

Maguire needs to take a portion of the blame as well.

There was no need for that pass back to DDG. Why didn't he just play it out?
