Why calling him back now when you can’t register him for any competition?

I think that's what he was asking
smalling is not a better option than most of our cbs anyway, people seem to have forgot he was incredibly poor for us for many years.
People on here keep mentioning Smalling (who alongside Herrera is the most overrated player I've seen on here ever), but has anyone actually thought about why Ole bombed him out on loan?

I think he had plans to bring Axel through as first choice. Unfortunately injuries have prevented that. Either way, Smalling knew that he was only going to be a squad player this season. Ole told him as much and Smalling said that he would rather go out on loan if that was the case. I don't really think it was a case of Ole .bombing him out.
Ahhh fair enough if that's the case. I know plenty do but I dont rate him at all. Id rather Dunk or Tarkowski tbh.

He hasn't really ever been quite good enough for United. Had a couple of good seasons, but I think that Axel can be a better player than him, so probably the right move all round. I think that it was a case of either him or Rojo going out on loan/being sold to make space for Axel.
Yeah I like Axel on the little Ive seen.
He won;t be able to play for Utd as he is not registered in their EPL squad. Only registered players can play
Smalling is a good player who got a lot of unfair stick. Wouldn’t be unhappy to see him return nor would I be too bothered if he leaves permanently.
I’d be exploring the option of getting Rojo and Jones our the door 1st though.
Second stupidest idea (just behind selling lukaku) of the last close season.
Voluntarily losing your best cb and your only decent striker - compounded by not replacing either - is an unfathomable act of self sabotage.

Axel replaced Smalling, Greenwood replaced Lukaku.
