Pat could wind up others (rivals or opposition). He is missing that.
He doesn’t seem as batshiiit insane as Evra...that dude should be Incan institution.
this notion of keeping him as a bit part is a little insane.
yes he loves Utd, but he also knew this was a short term contract when he'd be sitting on the sidelines with the Chinese league off.
lets also not forget he's getting silly money over there, is he really gonna sacrifice that heading into his 30s to become some bit part player?

I think he would, yes. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm being unreasonable but if he carries on scoring, it has to happen.

The Chinese league could stay off for some time tbh
He's primary function might just be an unintended one.
Just possible he might remind the club that having a no-nonsense proper striker/centre forward - even one of a standard no greater than 'reasonable' - is better than relying on a choice of forward that consists of wasters or journeyman.
Ighalo is clearly not 'the future' for the club's necessary renaissance, but somebody like him, only better and younger, has to be a better option than players like martial and rashford - that are clearly just not going to make it.
Sad, but hey ho

You do have a point. I was thinking this too. He is a propper striker and although he has less raw talent he look more like a striker than rash and martial
He's a proven PL goalscorer.
I thought it would be a shrewd signing, a bit like when Fergie signed Larsson. You know what you're getting.
Teams are always better with a natural centre forward and Martial and Rashford aint that and Greenwood is still too young to handle that responsibility.
Ighalo on a two year deal makes sense, good personality, scores goals, loves the club.
Still room for another striker as well if you use Martial and Rashford as you options from the left.

Mctominay has that covered.
Let's be honest, United are going to struggle for big name signings atm so he is a shrewd signing I think.
Compared to united's other options, or lack of, it makes sense to keep him. Loves the team and a good attitude, while united can't just go and sign the best anymore unless, like Bruno, no one else is interested.
Of all the top strikers around its fair to say united are not first choice anymore so getting him for a year or two def makes sense I think
Not sure big names are the route for us anyway, never has been. Buying talent from smaller clubs and developing them is the United way.

Yeah it has, this myth that weve never signed big names is just complete nonsense, we reguarly signed the biggest players in the league under fergie. and have numerous players considered to be at the top game signed over the year.
there is no utd way.

Simply not true. The biggest success stories under Fergie were the likes of Rio, Vidic, Evra, Cantona, Rooney, Ronaldo.
None of these were ready made stars, "big" names, Rio and Rooney perhaps. All of them were considered risks or developed at OT into the players they were.

Rio and Rooney were big names.
Cantona may have been risky but nothing to do with his ability and he certainly didnt develop anything at utd.
Keane, Pallister, yorke, cole, rvp etc etc the list in endless of talent that was bought in as top PL players.
stop peddling myths that are not remotely true.
the odd gem in there no doubt but it wasnt the norm.
Its good to see a player like Ighalo rejuvenating himself after selling his soul for China money. Same for Pablo Hernandez at Leeds. Was playing in Qatar at 30, joined us and been the best player our club has had for 17 years.

You need to remember that a lot of these players have short careers and want to make as much money as they can before they retire.
I do not agree with it but can see why they do it
Who turns down 300k a week to stay at Watford.
No cant bar Elton John, that's who.
I'd sell my soul, body, the lot for £300k per week? In fact for half that
